I was just wondering if anyone has ever riden a bike (or took the boat) to WL and used the pool there. I know its probably not allowed, but I was thinking that the water there might be warmer than FW. The water at FW has been to cold for me.

They are supposed to keep the water at a warm 82F....but in Dec, the small pool(By the cabins) was much colder than 82. But pool hoping is frowned upon!!

By your screen name, I'm assuming you are a DVC member. DVC gets you pool hopping privledges. Otherwise it is frowned upon. Saying that, I have done it. The pool at WL is soooooo much better! I did have an "in" though. My BIL works at the Trout Stream Pass there.

If I'm not mistaken, pool hopping privledges are only allowed if you're using your points during that particular stay. If you are staying on "cash", pool hopping is a no-no.

I do know that the folks over at the WL frown heavily on folks from the campground coming over to "THEIR" pool. Whenever the rehab for the Meadows pool was announced, there was all kinds of snide remarks about campers leaving their "poor trailer trash" lives to come to their "cement pond" to take up all of the chairs and "enjoy the good life" :rotfl2:

If you hang out in the shallow end of the Meadows pool by the kids, there are occassional periods of warmer water accompanied by a yellow hue to the water. I can't explain it, but there it is.

Of course these warm currents delight many of the swimmers as is evident by the happy look on their faces...:goodvibes

Funny thing about the "trailer trash" at the fort is they are the nicest people of all the resorts. I love staying at the fort. Another thing about the "trailer trash" at the fort, some of their rvs cost more than what the people staying at the Wilderness Lodge paid for their homes.

I know you're just repeating what you heard, Duane, however.... those snooty, uppity, snobs can stick their attitudes.... oh well....

If those people understood just how much some of them-thar trailers & RV's cost to own & operate, I think they would choke!! It would be far cheaper for us to stay in the concierge suite one month than what it costs to make one year of MH payments, insurance & fuel!! (All this said with due humility)

What is the deal with generalizations anyway? I think these attitudes stem primarily from ignorance. Ok, I'm going to make a general comment, only this one I formed from experience. I have never met any nicer people any where in the world than in a campground. Campers are sincere, gracious people. If FtW guests get a bad rap, it is only because others have not taken the time to see past their own noses. They don't know what they are missing, and quite frankly, I like it that way!

I have been camping of some sort for close to 15 years now, and am 100% in agreement with you guys. I don't care who you are, or where you come from, you won't find a better hobby or pasttime or better environment for that matter, to expose kids to than camping. The folks that you meet are some of the most friendly and helpful folks you will find.

The earlier post that I made was done "tongue-in-cheek", but it is the way that alot of folks view campers and the Fort in general.

I hope all you guys know that I am strickly going on what I have read on other areas of the DIS. Here is a prime example of a pool discussion.

I do have to admit, we are DVC members and enjoy what it has to offer, for the way we use it. I also have to admit, when we are vactioning at DVC, I find myself wanting to be at the Fort in my camper doing nothing but relaxing.

Well, enough on that, its time to get back to our regularly scheduled programing.

Well I never!!! Some people don't know what they miss:hourglass , from that wall they put up. You know God puts circumstances and people into our paths for a reason. :grouphug: It is a pity they miss the chance to find out what that reason is.

How much you would miss by not stopping by your FW neighbors for a cup of coffee, a chat:hyper2: , or a brewski with the mysterious "in" cyber chatters. If thats the big time, I'm staying where I'm at.

You know, I've heard the comments from people on the boat from WL, and I could care less. It's obviously ignorance. They have absolutely no idea who they are talking about. I may not look it or sound like it, but I'm educated out the wazoo. I'd rather hang out with real folks at FW than snobs from the villas any day. Let 'em have their themed pool. I'd rather hang out at the water filled concrete hole in the ground and have a Kungaloosh with you guys anyday.

FW Guy, is that education from Wazoo University? I am familiar with that one.

As for the pools, a bus driver told us that FW guests can use the WL pool. He said they are sister resorts and therefore can share pools. My son and nephew went to the WL a couple of times. Never were asked for id. If we are ever stopped, we will just say "the bus driver told us we could". :rotfl2: :lmao: :thumbsup2
