Been to Disney many times but never taken the RV to FW. Just curious, what's the transportation like to/from the parks. We love to RV because we can take our dog with us. Just wondering how feasible it is to come back and check on her now and then.

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

While some take Disney transportation to all parks, I only really use it for the Magic Kingdom. All other parks I drive and park. We like to go back in the afternoon for a little rest and to walk Natasha. Works out well that way.

Remember, your parking pass for FW allows free parking at any of the Disney parks.

We are sitting at the fort right now. I agree with taking the boat to MK and driving to all the other resorts. Using your resort ID is a snap at the other parks.

The boat back and forth can have many different variables concerning time. It may be full, may have just left, and may stop at Wilderness Lodge first then go to FW. I would count on at least 30 min just to be safe.

Many people take an afternoon break from the parks. Myself included. That would be a good time to check on your dog. If you need to stop back more often I would drive to all the parks for sure then.

Good luck,

stop I'm getting jealous. I'm going to take my laptop in March an im you to let u know where at FW.

Just kidding.

My question is about driving yourself to and from the parks. Im am thinking of doing this since I have a heavy akward double stroller to deal with (not fun on crowded buses). We will have my car at our site, and a rental rv. When I read a description of FW it mentioned you are not allowed to drive around except during check in and check out times. Is this correct, and if so how would I drive? Would I have to park at the overfill lot and how far is that from the full hookup sites (not sure what section we are in)? TIA~

As long as you are coming and going don't worry about driving in the Fort. I've been lot's of times and I was taking the bus to and from the parks but I finally got fed up with it because if you're staying at a park til closing (especially EPCOT) you have to wait way too long to get back and the buses are packed and miserable. I drove to all the parks this past Thanksgiving trip and it was great. (saved so much time) You will have a pass for your car when checking in at the fort and that gets you free parking at the parks. Now if you go to MK take the boat over. You won't have stroller problems because the boat is roomy enough to handle it. That is the only good trans. to a park and it's a pretty ride over as well. Take a camera because you can get a few pics of MK from a distance. When you're heading towards Wilderness Lodge look at the back of the main bldg. and you can see a bear face in the windows. Maybe too much info than you were looking for but take the car to E, AK and MGM.

Thanks for the info. Such a relief to hear I can drive around in FW! That stroller is a real bear to deal with and last trip I told myself I would drive before I used the buses. I was planning on taking the boat to MK. We used it once back in Sept while staying at CR and it is so roomy. My family stayed at FW back in the 80s and I remember taking the boat a lot.

Thanks also for the bear face in the windows tip. Ill have to remember to check it out!

But you cannot drive to the Marina or from point A to point B in FW...only walk, take a golf cart or the bus. You could drive from your site to the overflow lot to catch a bus....but then you might as well drive to your destination. The overflow lot is outside of the main FW Resort. It is also where people park if they aren't staying at FW and are going to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. There are no places to park cars in FW except at your site.

For strollers the boat is actually nicer. On the normal big boat you can almost always leave the strollers open and roll them on. Only on one occasion in the past 6 trips have we been asked to fold it up. So for the Magic Kingdom I'd take the boat if I had a big stroller...otherwise you'll be struggling with it on the ferry or monorail if you drive and park.

I agree with the consensus:

Take the boat to MK, drive to the rest of the theme parks. No extra cost, more direct, more control.

Helps that afternoon nap come much sooner!
