Future expansion - where is there land on site?

Does anyone "in the know" know if there is property on site at WDW where DVC could expand? In particular, I was curious if there is any room near the Animal Kingdom Lodge for expansion. DVC villas as part of the AKL would be pretty cool!

Also (and I know this is a pipe-dream) an off-site expansion to a ski area would be fantastic! Of course, only owners at that site would stand a chance at winter reservations!

DH and I would be first in line for AKL Villa points, but don't hold your breath. Environmental impact (including on the animals) would be a major consideration. That said, the entire Disney property in Florida is 42 square miles and iirc only about 45% is developed. Don't know how accurate that figure still is, but it was in the press materials I got a few years back (work at a newspaper). I know they have agreed with the state to set a certain percentage aside to leave as natural habitat (plus it helps isolate the park from the "real" world) - I think something like 15 or 20%. That still leaves quite a bit of viable area. There have been rumors for years of adding on lands at existing parks or even building additional ones (my idea is a Villian-themed park like a reverse Magic Kingdom), so they apparently have a lot to work with.

With the huge expansions planned for the new Saratog Springs DVC and then Eagle Pines, I doubt we will see future expansion at either AKL or the monorail resorts.

Part of me says that they turn the Boardwalk Inn into a DVC resort. How they would do it I don't have a clue. But it is in a great spot.
