Tell me all about Disneyland characters (July 2025)

I would imagine so since he is one of main characters now. He appears in the Sanctum and in the regular photo place by HQ. He used to roam a lot but I think the crowds just got to be too much so they put him in a regular meet space.

My funny Loki story is that I pointed out to him that there WAS NO LOKI PAGE in the Marvel autograph book..so I told him if he would sign a blank page, I would create a page for him, worthy of a god. He said ok and signed. Next time I went back, I showed him the book and ALL THE PAGES devoted just to him. He laughed and thanked me. Pic below. Yep..I am A TOTAL GEEK ...
That's amazing! I love it :)

Hi - we're going to Disneyland in July for a quick 2.5 days, staying at DLH. We're WDW regulars, and while we went to Disneyland 7 years ago, I'm still a newbie there.

My son is neurodivergent and probably getting a bit old for characters, but he was absolutely certain he still wants an autograph book and wants to meet characters. We went through who was listed in the app, he first wrote down all he wanted to meet, then due to the length, I had him prioritize the "musts".

It's still a lot of characters to meet. 😂 We explained that due to the time and the other stuff we want to do, we probably wouldn't get to all of them.

That's a long preamble to my questions -

What is the character meet and greet situation like?

I know not everyone is out regularly and to check the app, but is the app accurate?
I know not everyone has a line like WDW, but does anyone? Is it all a free for all?
Do they mostly sign (I understand not everyone can)?
Hi DFelt1,
Hope you have a wonderful trip with your son and just like your son I am a huge character fan and I would LOVE to meet the Marvel characters one day at Disneyland myself. Where you should start in your character hunt is a character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen and try to get as many autographs as you can there. Then you can continue on to the parks and get more autographs as you can. My tip is if the line for a character meet is long you or your husband can get the autograph for your son because that's what Dad did when there was a meet and greet for Jafar and I got his autograph. Another tip you can try but I don't think the characters do this anymore is you can try to catch them if they are heading to a show or parade and they will be happy to take a minute to sign your son's autograph book but I don't think that isn't allowed anymore today. Your son is gonna meet Ant-Man also in Avengers Campus too? How lucky for him. I like Ant-Man myself because he is always happy and cheerful. If you and your son get to talk to Ant-Man while you're there please send Ant-Man my love and be sure to tell him about me too
Good Luck and have fun

I was looking for something else and found some pictures to give you an idea of where he can see the characters

Oswald at front gate (DCA)

Baymax and Hiro in San Fransokyo (DCA)

Luca & Alberto Meet & Greet at Fantasyland Theater (DL) - This was at last year's Pixar Fest. I don't know if they will have the same characters this year.

Better Together parade float (DCA)

Judy Hopps - This was set up on the side of The Little Mermaid attraction. (DCA) They rotate characters through that area. Sometimes Russel from Up is there, sometimes Luca, sometimes Meilin. Check the app or with a CM to see who will be there on the days you are there.

There are some characters that don't sign. Off the top of my head Buzz Lightyear and the Zootopia characters won't give autographs, but the handlers give fantastic in character reasons why the character won't give autographs.

I wouldn't worry too much about age. There is no hard cut-off in terms of too old for character interactions. I'm a fully grown adult and I still do character meet and greets. I wait in line, get my picture, have them sign, and move on so the next person gets to have a turn.

Thanks for your help, everyone, I really appreciate it.

Do most of these characters do lines like in WDW, or is it just crowding around and pushing in, because my son probably isn't comfortable doing that.

Thanks!

Some characters are walking and don't stop other than for a quick picture. The CM will say something along the lines of "Pinocchio is just walking through. You are welcome to walk with him. Please keep moving." Others are in designated viewing areas.

Alberto & Luca - generally in a designated viewing area
Baymax & Hiro - designated viewing area in San Fransokyo
Genie - wandering with CM controlling guests
Pinocchio & Geppetto - wandering with CM controlling guests
Horace, Oswald - CM controlling guests but not wandering. More adults than kids want pictures with these two
Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde - generally in a designated viewing area
Miguel - designated viewing area near Rancho Del Zocalo or in Paradise Gardens
Mirabel- designated viewing area near Rancho Del Zocalo or in Paradise Gardens
Pete & Clarabelle - generally walk through Toontown so may be more crowding depending on the CM that accompanies them

If it is a dedicated/established meet and greet spot, it will have a line.

There are Toy Story characters that do meet and greets near Midway Mania. There is almost always a character there, but they rotate. Buzz may have been there when you got in line, but by the time you get to the front of the line, it may be Woody.

Messing around on the app today and Oswald is listed for appearances on Buena Vista Street/Plaza at 1pm and 2pm. Pinocchio and Geppetto at Small World Promenade at 12:45, 1:45, and 2:45.

I was at DCA Friday morning and Oswald was outside of Elias & Co on Buena Vista Street. It wasn't his usual spot so I was surprised. It was hot on Friday (in the 90s) so maybe they had him come out early and stay in the shade. :confused3

This was 9:30 am.
