Future DVC Resorts

I just got back from WDW last night and did the DVC presentation at the Boardwalk. I told the peron who booked my tour that I have been researching DVC for a long time and would really just like to take a look at the SSR models. He told me it would be no more then 60 minutes. When it was all said and done it was 2 and a half hours!! A little annoyed. Anyway - I asked my guide about future DVC resorts and she hinted at the idea of adding on to several of the existing WDW resorts. She said first would probably be the Contemporary and Polyanisian (SP?). She said the idea was to make all of the resorts part DVC. Has anyone else heard of this??:)

No, but how cool is that!!! I have been thinking I would put off adding on to see where they built new DVC's (because, you KNOW they are going to)...that would be great to be so close to MK!!! I had actually heard about the Contemporary, but not the Poly.

How much do you think each point will cost by then? Anyone for 115$? Yikes!!!! I hope not, or we will be eating mac-n-cheese alternated with ramen noodles just to save up for add ons! LOL

Here I come, mac 'n cheese!!!!!!!:hyper:

Ramen I can live with to have DVC at a MK resort or at the AK area

Bring it on!

thanks

Be careful not to make your decision to buy DVC on these rumors. If it is not stated in the legal documents that you will have to sign, don't count on it. There are always a lot of rumor going around about everything at Disney and many employees buy into them and spread them.

That being said, you can always hope.

I'd be very careful on these rumours. I can see the Contemp as a possibility as it's lagging behind sales at the other resorts and the garden wing could relatively easily be ripped down and rebuilt. The financial justification of this could be reasonably argued. The Poly however would be a much harder call to make, it's a successful hotel in it's own right and I think you'll see Eagle pines before you see Poly or GF resorts in DVC . The only way this could be done at the Poly is by ripping down existing units as I don't think they have any suitable land available. At both BCV and VWL they used existing surplus land.

I've also only heard about Eagle Pines and the Contemporary. Even those resorts have to be years away from opening. Depending on who you ask SSR will not be done for 2-6 years and they are not going to sell a new resort before SSR is just about sold out.

When the military took over the Contemp while their resort was being renovated the attendance at the Contemp fell off. I don't think it will ever recover, I would look for the Contemp to be the next DVC makeover or add on.

So what happened to the Eagle Pines resort that was already announced and put on hold while they built SSR? I would love to see VEP built!

Ummm... the military didn't cause reservations to go down. Reservations were already down, which is why Disney agreed to house SOG guests at the hotel during renovations. It actually guaranteed that a considerable number of rooms were booked each night (most of the North wing). Disney got just as much out of the deal as SOG/military guests. Remember, during this same period of time, PC's opening was delayed, and moderate resorts were closed down for "renovation"...

Great points, vernon. I only see one monorail DVC resport being built and the Contemporary seems the most logical to me. There is pleanty of room to the north and east of the Cont. resort when looking at the sattellite map. This would also put MK within walking distance. The Poly and GF seem unlikely to me, although they could be built at the parking lots and those lots relocated.

Yep. Buy based on what is currently available, not rumors. Eagle Pines was announced (pre 9/11) and now is uncertain/unknown.

This topic has been discussed before. If I recall right many agreed Contemporary would be a logical addition. (Using those existing wing areas?) As for Poly I thought it was discussed there wasn't any more good land there that could be built on?

I forgot the site, but there is a rumor website that had had the contemporary being added into DVC for quite some time.

Don't get me started on the GF parking lot! (!@#$%$!) It's ALREADY relocated, and I wouldn't buy DVC where it currently is!
As far as the Polynesian goes, what would not to be relocated (or just plain removed) is the Luau Cove, not the parking lot.

I agree with you! And since I'm married to a golfer (I'm surprised he doesn't have a "Golf is Life" t-shirt)and used the probability of VEP as part of my speil to get him to buy DVC, my credibility is at stake. But I believe that DVC's credibility is at stake too, so they have an obligation to build VEP. After all, they went so far as to show us the artist's renderings. It was a little more than rumor, and I think DVC has an obligation (and my hope) to carry through with it.

I tell you what, if there ever was a Poly or GF DVC I would buy in a second. As for the Contemp DVC that resort has little or no interest for myself.

I do not understand the context of the above post - was there something wrong with the military guests?

thanks

.... hmmm..... must have touched a nerve.

Wasn't there talk of another cash monorail resort, "The Venician" or something like that at one time?

I don't see a DVC at GF, the flagship hotel. Poly would be desirable, but it's showing it's age. Contemporary is most likely.
