Future DVC Resort Plans

Everyone says this, but I'd argue EPCOT has even less to do, especially for the target demographic of young families...
Ak is half zoo and half theme park and is not very good at either.

Epcot has its own issues but it’s still more enjoyable then ak.

So I used to love ak and thought the idea it was half day park was absurd. I just got back and there was only 2 rides in entire park my daughter was tall enough to do. Now they do have shows as well she could go to and the self guided animals but I can’t ignore the fact there is literally only 2 rides in the entire park for toddler to do.

Between the shows, animals and what is available ride wise, always really enjoy going to AK.

Dinoland was essentially always an avoid on our trips, so the addition of a new land is a whole new area for us.

My guess is that the drawing of people will help to spread the crowds for other attractions

I have little kids and besides Magic Kingdom I'd never go into the other three parks expecting there to be a ton of rides for my kids. Animal Kingdom has some pretty good experiences, definitely better than Hollywood studios, for little tikes

The Boneyard is awesome. I loved Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground when I was a kid.

Disney, build more unstructured areas for kids aka playgrounds!

Yes, that one outside Splash Mountain was wonderful for littles waiting for the big kids to ride Splash and BTMRR!

My ideas for future resorts:
  • Convert Caribbean Beach into a Venice-themed deluxe resort. Combined with Riviera, it would make the area seem more cohesive and a destination onto itself (the way that Crescent Lake is). It would also fix the problem with Riviera's preferred view rooms facing the non-preferred direction. Caribbean Beach currently has the largest moderate rooms, but they would become the smallest deluxe rooms.
  • A resort at Hollywood Studios, ideally near the Skyliner station. I would recommend a Chateau Marmont theme.
  • Convert the TTC into a resort - This would instantly become the hotel with the most convenient location. Due to the small footprint, it would be a more boutique hotel but Disney could market that as making it even more exclusive.
Any new Skyliner resorts should become a destination in themselves; the same logic as Boardwalk had. I'm not a fan of how Riviera is just a stop-along-the-way for the Skyliner - that station should have been where transfers occurred (not Caribbean beach) and been modeled after a European train station with various restaurants/shops. At a minimum, retrofit the Carribean Beach station with an island-style marketplace for people to grabs drinks, snacks and merch.

In the real world, commercial areas would be begging for that level of foot traffic. I don't understand why Disney routinely cheaps-out on profit centers which would improve the guest experience.

The Disney Dish podcast a few weeks ago had an interesting take on permit applications for updates to Western Way by Blizzard Beach. They suspect a new DVC is planned for available land across from Coronado Springs that could connect the skyliner from the Studios to Blizzard Beach, Coronado, and on to Animal Kingdom. I think that location would be awesome.
Is this the same area that the old brochure for a California Themed resort would go?

Caribbean Beach doesn't have elevators, so I doubt they'd just convert the buildings into DVC units. Maybe there's a way to add elevators to each building? Dunno. DVC seems enamored with high-rises at the moment, so things like converting CB seem unlikely unless it's a total gut.

I hope they expand the Skyliner. Even when it takes longer than other types of transportation, it's a pleasant way to pass the time. I'd love to see two expansion routes ... one to AK from the HS area and one that includes SSR/OKW and PO that connects into Epcot or HS. If the second line happened, I think you'd see PO converted into DVC.

Touche

I've never understood the fascination with getting a 5th park, 4 is plenty if they make AK actually good and actually increase rides/capacity at the other parks vs just replacing stuff.

Parks are packed everywhere.

Need another to spread people out. Adding a land in AK or MK isn't changing a ton.

Its crazy people think we need choke points in parks to be stressed more.

Whats 15-20% more people in MK for fireworks or on main street to open/close.

It would be easier to knock buildings down and rebuild like they did with Riviera. CBR lost 9 buildings.
