I have been looking into ABD trips an have my sights set on a couple of different options (despite the expense!).

I'm from the UK so thought that choosing a trip in Europe or N. Africa (i.e. Egypt!) would be better value for money for me as flights would be fairly cheap.

Boy was I wrong?! It seems that the trips which are further away from the US are much more expensive. Such a shame, as they are much easier for me to get to.

I've worked out that the Backstage Magic - Southern California trip is still cheaper once I've included flights. How can this be?!

I would suspect that the ABD trips are priced in US dollars and when you figure the exchange rate with the Euro it escalates the price proportionally. But even so the pound is doing better than the Euro and dollar so you still are doing pretty well IMO. Plus we (from the US) pay an average of $1600 for RT airfare to Europe.......partly due to that "carbon tax" on airfare......:rolleyes1

Did you figure out the per day cost? The Egypt trip is 10 days/9 nights and the Southern CA trip is 6 days/5 nights. Quite a substantial difference. Most of the European trips are longer than the domestic US trips.

Also, most of the US trips are not in urban areas (although this doesn't apply to Southern CA). So hotels tend to be much less expensive then the Urban hotels in Europe, etc.

I think if you look at the Aisian trips, they are actually pretty reasonable on a per day basis.
