Has anyone on here done the Fury Catamaran excursion on Cozumel? I really wanted to see the ruins but Tullum seams to be the one highly recommended and it isn't offered on our trip (Only 7 hours in port). Hubby thinks we should try the Fury Catamaran and beach party. Is there a lot of drinking on board? Is it something young kids would find interesting or do you think it would be boring for them? They can't swim on their own yet. I think my older two would like it but my younger two are the ones I am worried about. Hubby thinks I am over thinking it but I am a little worried about watching all 4 of them in the water. If we don't book this excursion there didn't seem like much else that we really wanted to do. Should we just stay on the boat? This is our first cruise ever so we really have no idea what we are doing! :) Also, I don't really want to split up. (ie. Have hubby and the big kids get off the boat and have me and the littles stay on. We don't get to see each other all together that often and I think spending the day apart defeats the purpose of the trip.) Thanks for any suggestions.

We did this excursion last year not a lot of drinking and the beach party was fun, but the snorkel was in fairly deep water about 12ft.

Not a lot of drinking, really?? We did this back in November of 2010 and if I remembered one thing it was that they weren't happy if you didn't have 2 drinks in your hands at all times. They weren't obnoxious about the drinking but it was ubiquitous. Maybe they've toned it down since we went:confused3

So, if your kids are capable and are into 'what's under the sea', Cozumel has some great snorkeling; visibility was great, the equipment was decent and the crew was pretty good with instruction for those that needed it.

I'll second the beach party assessment, definitely a great beach and was a lot of fun. I have only been on a couple DCL trips and I must say this was one of the better excursions we've been on.

Thank you for your review. Still trying to decide about it. It helps to know that you had a good time. Just still unsure if it is a fun time for 5 year olds. :confused3

Absolutely loved this- the beach party and dancing on the boat were so much fun, and my kids (7 and 10) had a great time. With your concern watching 4 kids, I think you have to know how they will do...it is very deep and they keep you moving. Unfortunately, the life jacket on my 7 year old's life jacket deflated while we were snorkeling. They brought us another and they put it on him - switching it in incredibly deep water. My son can swim, but as exciting as the ocean is, it is scary. Most importantly, although the staff was great once I alerted them of the problem, they were not lifeguards watching the kids-meaning I watched the 7 year old and my husband watched the 10 year old. If I hadn't been directly watching my son.... It was very scary when the life jacket suddenly deflated. The kids can't call to you- they have masks and snorkels on. I can swim well, and had a lifejacket but found it really overwhelming when I was in deep moving water with my 7 year old. If we weren't one on one with the kids, I would have to be really confident in their swimming skills and ability to communicate a problem.

Although they were generous with the drinks (obviously they don't serve them until after you snorkel), I didn't think they pushed it. There were many who were not drinking or not drinking much on our excursion. I don't think they are the strongest margaritas (which is great and why some probably drink so many).

Final analysis, this is something we definitely want to do again, it was fun- just know what you are getting into with the snorkeling!

Have a great trip!!
