Has anyone done this Shore Ex before?? Hubby is looking at it for our October trip, but I wanted to see what some other people thought of it before we keep it as a possibility.
Thanks in advance!

Dd(11) and I did this last week. It was a good excursion. We motored out to the snorkeling area and snorkeled ~45 minutes. The water was beautiful, and there were some pretty fish/coral. There were a ton of people in the water, which made it hard to navigate.

Once we were back on the boat, they brought out the margaritas and beer. I found the margaritas to be extremely week - I saw the guy making them, and he poured a bottle of alcohol in a water cooler, but I would have sworn they were virgin had I not seen that (and I still question how much it was watered down).

We sailed from the snorkeling spot to the beach. It look another 1/2 hour to get there. They brought the boat with a few feet of the shore. The beach area had plenty of chairs. Only the hammock area was covered. The water toys were in good repair. They served burgers for $11 - I heard some complaints about the price. We weren't hungry, but they looked really good. The sand was surprisingly hard to walk in for some reason. It was so soft that you sunk down 1/2 a for or so with each step.

After -1.5 hours on the beach, we sailed back.

We wouldn't do it again. Snorkeling was poor. Boat was very crowded. Took forever to get to the beach. Just wasn't great for us.

Looks like I am going to be in somewhat the minority here but our family LOVED this excursion! There are lots of people on the boat but I didn't feel it was crowded IMO. The snorkeling is ok but in general ALL snorkeling to me is just ok since I'm a diver. The kids liked splashing about in the ocean. I will say that NO ONE follows the leader from the boat when they get in the water but he does show you some cool stuff. The beach part for me is the best! (though I will say it feels rather short just because we are enjoying ourselves so much!) LOTS of inflatables in the water and are in very good condition. (NOTE: if you have have younger kids you do have to watch them very closely or be in the water with them because there are many kids in the water splashing about, jumping off things, sliding into the water, etc and its hard to find people when you want them.)

Yes they do serve food there for a price. For us the excursion ends right around lunch time so we just wait until we get back to the dock and you can go across the street to the mall to eat or just get back on the ship.

We are leaving for our spring break cruise on March 29 and this will be the 3rd time we will have done this excursion if that tells you anything! Enjoy your time whatever you do!

We did this in December, and all parties from mid40's to 13 enjoyed it. I thought it was a nice excursion for the day. The snorkeling was fun and we loved the inflatables.

My only complaint was that it was short. I'd have paid more for a longer time and lunch.

We loved this excursion. We went with DS (7) and DS (10) and they were up dancing with the crew and having a phenomenal time. The floating equipment on the beach was so much fun. I thought the snorkeling was a little rushed, but since this was the first time for us, that actually worked in our favor and gave us a greater comfort level at Castaway Key. I recommended this to my parents on a recent cruise (non-Disney) and they thought it was fantastic as well. It was all around a perfect day, although we wished it was a little longer - better to leave you wanting more than wanting to be done!

I think we will do this, from the reviews of everyone here. $11 for a burger doesn't sound terrible to me, probably DH will be the only one who eats, maybe DD and I will share one... DH said, "Are you actually going to go snorkeling?" cuz I am a bit terrified of sea creatures. ha! So, this sounds nice...

We are seriously contemplating doing this excursion in October. It looks like it could be fun, I've only gone snorkeling once so I'm looking forward to trying it again.

It would be nice to have a few of us on the excursion at the same time. :)

Hi Crafty 91!
We'll be on the same cruise and have booked this excursion. It will be myself, DH, DS (10), DD (8), and DS (7). I had heard only wonderful comments about the Fury and can't wait!!!

Oh my goodness! I did this excursion on my very first cruise ever, Carnival Ecstasy in 2000. To date it is the best excursion with a cruise I have ever been on. The crew did a great job showing us how to use the equipment and teaching newbies the basics of snorkeling. It was a great intro snorkel. The beach was gorgeous and felt very private and secluded. It was Carnival so my experience was mostly adults with more of a party atmosphere. I will say that boat that day was not family friendly but again, this was Carnival and a completely different crowd. It was so fun, though. I still wear the hat I bought on the boat that says Fury Cozumel. The part that made it a huge party atmosphere was after the beach part. The beer and margaritas were freely flowing. I was drinking beer, and as soon as my bottle got a little less than halfway gone, they grabbed it out of my hand and put a fresh one in it. They also had congo lines going, and kind of like musical chairs, when the music stopped, whoever was by the chair had to sit down and take an upside down tequila shot. It got pretty wild! I'm sure the DCL crowd is much tamer, though! It was much fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was just an all around great day. I'm thrilled to hear they are still going strong!
