how would you introduce the parks to 85 year old newbie
(She's all about visiting resorts & food)
Not so much parks-however she really doesn't know what lies ahead.:flower::flower:

Therefore; I'm wondering which attraction or extremely gentle ride we should commence with in each park-

The current park order days are as follows (been changed several times & probably will continue to do so):

MK

AK

Epcot

DHS

Epcot-Living with the Land and Spaceship Earth, also Ellen DeGeneres ride.

MK- It's A Small World, Riverboat, Ride the train around the park, maybe Peter Pan?? My grandma loved the shows- tiki birds, country bear jamboree, hall of presidents, Mickey's philharmagic

EP- spaceship earth, nemo

AK- most rides are pretty rough here I think- maybe take the train around? And of course the shows are awesome.

DHS- I would just suggest shows- beauty and the beast, little mermaid

Good luck! I'm sure she'll find something to enjoy!

I was going to take dmil on railroad round MK as her introduction to the parks-but it's closed when we are there.

At MK I also think Peter Pan would be good, but I'd ask the CMs to stop the moving platform you load onto the ride from before having her get on.
Also the little mermaid ride was tame.

Epcot, just looking at the pretty architecture in the world showcase, and also agree Nemo's a good one.

At animal kingdom I'd get a seat at the Dawa Bar in Africa and watch the band play and all the little ones dance. This was one of my favorite chill things in all of Disney.
Maybe the safari ride? Not sure if she's okay with bumpy rides?

My 73 year old mom who has been a few times just keeps asking if we can ride the monorail at some point when we go in March. She thinks it's so cool!
MK has the most in terms of "gentle" rides. We hope to hit:
Small World, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid, Mickey's Philharmagic, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Carousel of Progress, TTA People Mover, Magic Kingdom Railroad, Country Bears, Tiki Room (maybe), Hall of Presidents, Liberty Belle Riverboat, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
That's a lot! Plus we might h
I'm also going to try to see the Main Steet Trolley show and the Main Street Philharmagic (which my dad will love as he's a trumpet player). I'd love to catch a Main Street vehicle down Main Steet USA too! Oh, and the Festival of Fantasy parade!
So much fun stuff to do for people of any age!

It depends. Normally I'd agree with all of the above suggestions. However, if she's loaded and you are the main heir, I'd go with:

MK--Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Mad Tea Cups
AK--Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Primeval Whirl
EP--Test Track, Mission Space (orange)
HS--Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror

Just kidding. :)

HS-great movie ride. That is so wonderful and calm too
EP-Mexico! Just posted on another thread about how much I love this ride!
MK-Philharmagic, country bear jamboree
AK-Lion King show is amazing. I did not expect to like it as much as I did.

Gee, I'm 73 and I like EE, RnRC, and Tot.
That's awesome!
Mom has really severe motion sickness and a pacemaker, so she isn't into the thrill rides. Never has been. I even need to be sure about the People Mover as I've read that it uses magnets, which could interfere with her pacemaker. Don't want that!

That's a bad combination. I doubt that people mover interferes with pacemakers. If it did, there would be signs all over the place warning about it. Lots of people at Disney have pacemakers. Have a good trip.

What a great question! We took my 85 year old grandmother to WDW for her first (and only) trip in the late 90s and she LOVED it. It was so special seeing it not only through the eyes of a first timer but also seeing an old woman become a kid again.

In MK I would do the dark rides and classics. Small World. Peter Pan, Pooh, Enchanted Tales with Belle (they are all familiar stories and the effects are really remarkable). Pirates. Philharmagic. Monsters Inc. I would also try to do a parade and/or fireworks. There is a to. That doesn't jostle the body but boggles the mind. I think she might be more impressed by the effects than a child because I doubt she plays video games!

In Epcot, World Showcase is a must. I think you could also do Soarin in addition to the rides mentioned by the PP. But I would try other rides first.

AK - I second the lion king. Maybe also Nemo?

HS - Fantasmic, Great Movie Ride, Muppet Show, any of the other shows.

Have fun!!!!!

Thanks so much guys for all your suggestions and input.

Dmil has heart problems therefore she definitely won't be going on thrill rides-even if she wants to!!!

She is super excited and it's an absolute dream come true to take her to wdw next week.

She's fairly laid back and likes to 'go with the flow' so I'm hoping she loves it as much as we do.
