Furniture from Big Lots?

Now's not the time for us to be buying living room furniture. But the ones we have are 13 years old and are looking pretty shabby. For years I put of replacing them because I knew with children in our future, the furniture would take further abuse.

But, these things are just embarassing. There is no more spot cleaning and vacuuming of these things to make them look decent anymore.

We could buy a more expensive set from the same store we got these years ago, but I would rather not spend that kind of money or put that much on credit when I am about to stay home with the kids.

So, last night while I was at Big Lots, I saw a couch and loveseat that were pretty reasonable. I'm just not sure about the quality though. I mean, I'm sure they're not the highest quality but I'm hoping they will hold up for a few years.

Anyone ever purchased a sofa, loveseat, and/or a recliner from Big Lots? If so, were you satisified?

I bought a couch from Big Lots back in 99. It lasted a year before it started falling apart. You really do get what you pay for. All their stuff is cheaply made. I would spend more and get better quality because you'll just end up replacing it sooner in the long run.

We have a recliner we bought from Big Lots four and a half years ago when my DH had his first knee replacement. He had a second knee replacement in June and the chair is still good. He is a big man and sits in it almost every day lots of times along with a grandchild or two. I think we've gotten our $300 worth out of it easily.

I don't know about there, but here, Big Lots is a close out store, so it's not "their" furniture. I think if you look really close at the furniture you can tell if it's ok quality. I bought a beautiful curio there a few years ago at a terrific price.

I bought DH a recliner from Big Lots not too long ago and we love it.. Is holding up great..

The BL by me actually sells some Ashley furniture.. I think you just have to watch what you are buying..

Our Big Lots stocks some Ashley furniture. Honestly, if you can buy a sofa that you know you will be replacing in 5 years for a cheap price, why spend more? Microfiber cleans very well and BL sells tons of that. I am going there this weekend to look for a curio. I figure the price will be great and I will be the only opening and closing it so it should hold up quite well.

We purchased a microsuede couch and loveseat for our basement family room several years ago. It's so comfortable and has held up very well! It takes a beating from the kids and their friends but the most I ever have to do is fluff up the cushions and it's like brand-new again. We've been very pleased.

Me I've had them for almost 3 years now. They need to be steam cleaned but they aren't falling apart or anything even with 3 kids! Make sure you sign up for their "news letter" you'll get coupons for 20% off every now and then. And yes you can use that 20% off on ANYTHING in the store.. not just one thing.. your whole purchase. we have two of the Stetson Bark Sofa's SOOO comfy!

I bought one of their microfiber couches and recliners 2 1/2 years ago and love them. My DS had just turned 2 at the time and it's held up just fine with him climbing all over them and with spills and the like. I find them very comfortable, too, and when we moved this past summer, we went back and bought the matching chaise chair for our den, which I'm equally as happy with.

I can't speak for their living room furniture, but we bought a bedroom set that we expected to be temporary and it's been fantastic! The mattress set we bought turned out to be better quality than stuff we paid 3x as much for in more expensive furniture stores.
