Furbaby Brag Thread!

I can't believe I forgot to mention Simon! Dh was working out of town and wanted a companion of some kind so one weekend while I was visiting him we saw an ad for free kittens. He was cute and fluffy so we took him. At first he would barely even come out. He hide for like 2 weeks. Then when he finally did he became an evil little bugger :rotfl: He loved to hide under the bed and attack your feet. When Dh came home, he and Petey hit it off right away. They love to play together. Well, they did anyway. After Simon was declawed he figured out he didn't have the advantage anymore and now he's not so keen on stalking Petey.

Simon sits outside the bathroom door and wails until I come out. He has to jump up on the toilet seat when I flush and watch the water go around (he actually moves his head the same as the water when he does it) and loves to play with the water that drips out of the tub faucet. But boy, give him a bath and you'd think we doused him in battery acid :confused3

Every night after the lights go out he leaps onto my stomach (no small feat, he's a FAT kitty at 18#) and kneads me for several minutes then drapes himself, butt in my face and his head on my thigh, and goes to sleep. Oh, and his dish must be completely full at all times. If a single morsel is missing he comes and meows until I refill the dish  .

Even though he was supposed to be daddy's kitty, he's most definitely a momma's boy.

Here's my baby boy.....Jasper

I just put the clothes from the washer into the dryer, and when I put a dryer sheet in, Chewie comes running up to me, jumps on the open dryer door, and starts meowing like she's in pain!! Took me a minute to remember that I keep the catnip in the basket next to the laudry stuff. Little addict. :3dglasses

Grey one is my parents' cat Oscar and the black one is my cat Bribs watching "kitty tv" :happytv:

Big boys! Apricot is a big fella too. He's a large cat anyway, but then "Grandma" spoils him with too much food. He sure is happy though!

Hmmm... sounds very familiar in my house too... Those grandmas...

my "son" on the record coldest day in north Alabama in 20 years.

Lilo is our baby and her picture is in my sig. as well as a link to her dogster page. We found her at a local family owned place that has been around forever. When I put her down to play with her she immediately bit my finger and I knew she had to be mine! (she doesn't bite anymore thank goodness!)

We also have Jessie our cat (manx) who we adopted from the shelter when she was a baby. She has a stubby little tail and my husband loved her because she was jumping in her water dish instead of drinking from it.

We have two little furbabies:

Jackson, who is a 1 1/2 year old shetland sheepdog. He is such a calm, sweet dog. My daughter calls him her "angel". We got him 3 days after my 14-year old sheltie, Lily, died. If you want to see Jackson's picture, go to www.dogoftheday.com, and check out the dog of the day for February 28.

Barq's, who is a 6-month old Katrina rescue dog. Apparently, he is the product of some families who had evacuated together with their pets and had an unplanned litter. He is a cute little fellow, but VERY active.

I will try to post some pictures in a little while.

"Lilo is our baby "

any plans for a Stitch to keep her company? That would be too cute. I think all of my future animals will have Disney names. :wizard:

That was the original plan, but she's such a little Diva I don't know how she'd react to a Stitch now! When we get a house with a yard we definitely do want to get another dog though.

For some reason all my pets have had disney names
Mickey, Simba, Jessie (Toy Story Cowgirl), and Lilo. I guess everyone knows I'm a Disney-a-holic!

Since we have 20 pets between all the dogs and birds, I'll start with one at a time, otherwise this might get long. ;)

Well, might as well start with the main character - Reilly

P52802951.jpg

He's a 6 yr old Apricot Miniature Poodle. Lauri bought him as an anniversary present for me. Let me tell you that didn't last long.

When Reilly was about 2, Lauri got very sick - very very sick. She was already suffering from an autoimmune disease and thought what was going on was just par for the course. Reilly knew different. That little dog latched on to her and wouldn't move. He wouldn't let her out of bed and wouldn't let me touch him. He would just lay with his head on her - not eating, going out - just staying with her.

His odd behavior made us wonder if there was more than we thought wrong with Lauri. She made an emergency appointment to see her doctor and a blood test came back that she was critically ill. Her muscles were failing rapidly (which of course, includes your heart). Reilly must have sensed something wrong with Lauri. To this day, this dog has remained by her side constantly. He can anticipate flares in her disease where she will have a fever spike taking her from normal to 103 degrees in a matter of minutes and warns her. He comforts her, he loves her like I have never seen a dog love a person before.

In addition, the dog is as smart as a .. well, I can't think of a smart comparison! The dog understands full sentences. You can tell him to get a certain "baby" by name, and he will get it (out of probably 100 toys). He can talk. He says "rop it" to his sisters when they try to take something of his (he learned that from us always telling them to "stop it" when they are up to something. He's a shopaholic and is well known at Three Dog Bakery, Michaels, Home Depot and the local dog friendly mall.

He learns to do things for himself. He wants a drink while in the car? Not a problem, just reach over, pop the lid off of a soda cup with your teeth, use your paw to move the lid and drink all you want! Obedience? Who needs school. Mommy just says "Reilly, heel mommy" and he heels - not just heels, but does the proper approach (coming up around and behind) if mommy says "Reilly heel daddy" - he will heel for me even if Lauri is holding the leash. No, he was never taught this - just "picked it up"

Reilly "works". When Lauri and I sell her hand beaded dog collars at craft shows or expos, he works the entire day, allowing people to try collars on him, see his collar that he wears or just bringing people in to "pet the cute dog". At his last show he wore the get up in the above picture and loved every minute of it. He had complete strangers and newspapers taking his picture.

I could go on and on. Okay, well, I already have. But we were definitely blessed with this little furry angel - for all he's done for Lauri and for the happiness he has brought to our lives.

Okay, here is the pictures of my two furbabies:

So sweet! So tell me how SHE got the name "Jake" ;)

I love that sight. You can even make diary entires for your pets! I haven't gone that far yet. :p

Everyone says that. When my friends and I are joking around, teasing eachother, I'll say something and then they'll shoot back with "Well, at least I don't have a girl dog named JAKE!!!" LOL. So the story behind her name...My dad always wanted a big yellow dog named Jake. I guess he always pictured a big yellow lab like an Old Yeller type dog. Well, when we got her, he figured this was his chance to get his big yellow dog named Jake. Well, it turns out that Jake isn't really that big (about 40 pounds) and she really isn't that yellow. My mom only agreed to let my dad name her Jake if she could have a pink leash and color so that people don't think she is a boy. So now she has a pink color, but she uses my other dog's black leash. LOL.

I have a 10 week old female Golden Retriever named Bella. She is such a joy. Light and color and awful puffy right now. I should own stock in chewie toys, they are everywhere in my home. She's doing really good but has her moments when I want to run away. :moped:

We also have two cats, Mitsy & Sadie. Good cats, stay out of trouble for the most part. ;)
