Hi all,
I have recently started reading the WISH boards after gaining a few too many pounds last year. So I started out the New Year going to the gym each day. On Thursday I was at the gym during lunch, working out with a friend. She was on the elliptical next to me, and we were talking. I was not holding the bar in front of me, I was pumping my arms to burn more calories. My foot must have hit the edge of the belt, and down I went. I couldnt push myself back up because the belt was still going. She was trying to reach over to flip the emergency stop switch. The guy that works at the gym came running over to see if I was OK. My pride hurt a little, but I got back up, and kept walking. (I do 4 mph- I am not running yet at this point.) Even I was laughing, because it was really funny :rotfl2:
I thought I was fine till I got back to my desk. After sitting for a while I realized- My knee really hurts. I skinned my knee a good bit, but walking and stairs still hurt. Hopefully I am better by Monday so I can continue my workouts. Maybe I better switch to the eliptical or the bikes......

Hi,

I'm glad you weren't hurt anymore than a skinned knee.:worried:

My treadmill has a safety clip that is attached to the treadmill and I can clip the other end to my shirt. If something like your situation occurs when you fall away from the treadmill the machine will automatically stop.

If your gym has that you might want to use it. Falling off a treadmill can be dangerous.

Keep up the good work! ::yes::

Oh, I hope you're feeling better. Treadmills really can be dangerous. I was on mine a few weeks ago (and haven't been on since. ). I was running along having a great time. DH was working on rewiring our loft when he decided to test all of the circuit breakers. All of a sudden the power quit, the belt stopped, and I went flying into the front panel of the treadmill. I fell backwards and bruised myself up pretty good. Needless to say, he was in the dog house for a long time!

I hope you are feeling better... I am such a clutz it sounds like I would do that....

OMG! I never thought of what might happen of the power suddenly went out! especially sine they are designed to stop immediately in case of an accident!
I am always more worried about sliding back and just being raspberried by the belt!......... I almost wish I never read your post lol :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I feel like that all I will think about now while I am doing 5.5 MPH!
