I am trying to think up a funny saying for my Girl Scout troop T-shirts. We wear them on any trip or outing that we attend. My girls are 3rd graders, so keep it age appropriate please!

I have thought of:

Stick figures around a fire roasting hot dogs, and it says "It's all fun and games until somebody loses a weiner!"

A S'more graphic that says "There's always room for S'more!"

Help please!

I can't believe that you are worried about people giving you age appropriate suggestions and you have the one about losing a weiner. There is no way that would be appropriate for a 3rd grade girl to wear. I hope you were kidding with that one.

With the graphic and the context, it was completely appropriate and available on a childs shirt. I just don't happen to like it and so asked people to help think up other ideas. But thanks for your helpful suggestion. ;)

I used to see this shirt at Steve & Barry's when it was open, and it was displayed with all their other sexual innuendo shirts. I've seen numerous teenage boys wear that shirt, and I'm pretty sure they "got" the meaning it was intended to have. I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to warn you.

Edited to add: I teach high school, and I know of at least one occasion where a boy wore that shirt to school and was told to either have a parent bring them something else or wear it inside out for the rest of the day.

If the shirt has nothing to do with ***** humor, it would be just as funny to use the word marshmallow instead of weiner.

Here's a cute t-shirt that say "Happy Camper" with a big smiley face. (Link: http://www.cafepress.com/+happy_camper_camping_kids_light_tshirt,428382854)

Here's another one that says: "Camping Queen" and it has a picture of a tiara and little sparkly jewels around it. It's pretty. (Link: http://www.cafepress.com/+camping_queen_womens_tshirt,433499325)

Oh, one more. "Peace, Love, Camp." The t-shirt has a peace symbol, a heart, and a tent with the words Peace, Love, Camp written underneath them. (Link: http://www.cafepress.com/+peace_love_camp_white_tshirt,248880759)

They're not funny, per se, but they'd be appropriate for Girl Scouts. They're all from Cafe Press and many have coordinating tote bags, sweatshirts, etc.

:scared1:Yikes!

I think you'll probably need to run every idea by all the parents if you go with "funny." How about a simple graphic with something identifying the troop?

" 6 Out of 7 Dwarfs Aren't Happy":)

I really like the Smore one. I am a mother of a Brownie and a Jr. Girl Scout, and I have to agree that the weiner one is full of sexual innuendo and not appropriate. I would not allow any of my kids to wear it. The Smore one is cute, though, why not go with that one?

I found the weiner one funny, but not age-appropriate.
I love the smore one, though! :goodvibes

Do you want the shirts to be made specifically for your girls or just matching shirts?

I would look at Lifeisgood.com They have some really cute shirts and the sayings on the kid's shirts are age appropriate.

Personally, I thought the weiner one was funny, but not appropriate for 3rd graders.

When I was in high school the Co-ed naked shirts were popular. One of the gym teachers was also the field hockey coach. She had the team shirts made in the co-ed naked style and they read "Make a pass on the grass" and a parent complained and the coach got into huge trouble for them. They were banned from being worn in school. And that was with high school aged kids.

I second the Life is Good idea. They have a lot of cute outdoorsy stuff. Another one I second is Cafe Press. They have anything and everything. Or, how about a "Queen of the Castle" t-shirt with a little girl in a tent?

How about instead of roasting hot dogs, the stick figures could be roasting marshmallows and have the saying be "It's all fun and games until someone loses a marshmallow."

So along the same lines, but still age appropriate. :)

....how about "Don't sit too close to the fire, or you'll burn your brownies!" ??
[...I'm assuming that, since they are 3rd graders, they are in a brownie troop..]

Kids sitting around a campfire, one is holding an animal, the other girls say, "We're trying to get badges! Not a badger!"

I definitely think the weiner one is too off-color. I would not want my third grade girl or boy wearing it. The S'more one is appropriate and cute, though not super funny. I'd go with it between the too, though.

Sticks to roast marshmellows=$0

Giving to your community=$0

New experiences, lessons learned, lifelong friendships=$0

When you're a girl scout everything is priceless

(okay we know it costs a fortune but the important things are free:))

"girl scouts- we have been making better cookies than elfs since 1901" actually I have no idea on the right year, but you get the point.

The first one has already been thought up. My son's friend had that EXACT same tshirt on yesterday (including the stick figures). I don't think you can claim that one as your own.

I agree-the weiner one is NOT appropriate at all. So what if it is available on a children's shirt, it doesn't mean it is appropriate for a child. I saw a boy who was around 10 wearing a shirt that said "my sister is a witch". I don't find that appropriate either but he was a child.

I like the "burn your brownies" one.

I like this one... very cute. Thanks!

I had thought of those shirts, but couldn't for the life of me remember the name. I'll look those up. Thanks!

MUCH cuter! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I LOVE IT!!

Never claimed it as my own, just said I had thought of it for a T-Shirt. No need to get your undies in a wad.

Just to reitterate, I didn't ever really consider the weiner shirt, it was just the funny type of saying that I was going after. I guess I am a little innocent to miss the sexual innuendo when looking at children's T-shirts. But I have NO INTENTIONS of putting that on my girls!!! I just wanted some of the creative people on here to help me come up with some ideas. I will show all the cute ones to my girls and let them decide which they like best. If anyone else has any ideas, I'd still love to hear them! :upsidedow
