We just got back from Anastasia State Park. Thanks to all who helped us find it. We were quite pleased. The sites are extremely shaded and the beach is close by. Next time I will have bikes with us.

What is funny.....
My parents camped in their pop-up about 6 sites down from us. They are conservationist and refused to turn on their air, so they left the windows open so the air could flow through their screens. One night while eating out at a horrible restaurant (Salt Water Cowboys) squirrels chewed through their screens and ate their food. The food was even put in zip lock bags. My mom was devastated and was washing sheets until 1am. We all laughed about it.

I have never had this problem. Anyone else. Who would think they would chew through the screen.

I'm sorry to hear about SWC. That used to be a premier restaurant down there. I wish I knew you'd be there. I'd have sent you to O'Steens. It's world famous. It takes a while to get in but it's good. Another good place is up the road that a former O'Steens employee opened. It's right near the campground as well. Did you go to any of the attractions? I've been to Anastasia once and it's really nice.

I've heard people fly in in private jets to eat lunch at O'Steens lol so it's pretty good. The other place is just as good and gives you more shrimp.

O'Steens is one of the best places to eat in St. Augustine. Like Stack said, it is hard to get in. We once stood there for over an hour just to get to their shrimp. You have to get there early!!!

This past trip June 07 while we were at FW a squirel got into a screened tent across from us and couldn't get out. It kept jumping against the screen. It finally got out and was sitting on a stump and then starting trying to get back in.

We were at Anastasia park in June. My nephews and I loved the park. The beach was beautiful but it was too far. We had to drive to the beach and my DH hated that. We usually go to Long Key or Bahia Honda which are either waterfront or have nearby beaches. Well, to make a long story short we checked out of Anastasia 3 days early and headed for the fort.

There is no place like FW :yay:

We were camping a few weeks back at Skidaway Island, GA. I had a squirrel chew a hole in my LP gas hose from my tank to my grill. I bet he got a surprise.

We came home and I hear this hissing sound. Walk over to picnic table and could smell the gas.

PSA - Always turn off the valve on the tank. If this had not been a very open area, could have been bad.

I've spent a vacation or two in St. Augustine, and we've gone to the Salt Water Cowboy each time. What gets me is all the cats there!!! :confused3

I thought it was pretty good, but lets be honest... I'm from Michigan, and any seafood that is halfway fresh is a treat!!!

The other joint is called Schooners. We have some family in from Mississippi so we're taking them down this week for lunch.

Most of the people I talk to around here say schooners is the best ( me included ). As sad as it may be to some of you, I have lived here for about 25 years and have never eaten at Osteens. I've heard the bragging and even watched others eat take-out, i'm just not patient enough to wait in line. Which is kind of funny with my disney addiction.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Maybe they can issue you a fast pass? :lmao: :lmao:
