I usually hang out on the cruise board, but we were at WDW prior to our last cruise, and I just had to share our experience at the Magic Kingdom. It was one of those surreal moments when I thought I was in the Twilight Zone!
Hubby and I were heading to Sunshine Terrace to get one of those vanilla/orange twists to which I am addicted. We were entering Adventureland and walking down the incline. A family nearby was pushing an old woman in a wheelchair, and one of them said, "Wouldn't it be cool to just let her go down the hill?" I thought it was one of those idle comments until I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. It was the wheelchair! They had let it go down the incline, and now it was hurtling with a life of its own! I stepped out of the way, and it was heading towards hubby. Just as it had almost reached him, a woman in the party managed to grab it, but the momentum was too much for her. It started swerving in a circle, and it appeared she would either have to let go or dislocate her shoulder. Hubby was close enough to grab the other handle, and he is a strong guy so he brought it safely to a stop. The rest of the family caught up, and one of the guys said, "Sorry. We had a runaway granny there!" For some reason, that struck me as totally funny, and for the rest of the trip, all either hubby or I had to say was "Runaway granny!" to start up the laughter again. I suppose it wasn't funny for the poor old lady, but throughout the whole thing she never said a word, so maybe she is used to it. Perhaps they were some relation to the Simpsons or the Bundys of "Married With Children." As much as we go to the parks, it will take some experience to top that one! Anyone have anything more wild?
