They couldn't do that today because the fact that they never take their eyes off their phones makes it difficult to not skate into other objects. Now, granted, it would be hilarious to watch, but might do some harm.

Oh, they still do it today. I mostly ice skate, but there is still a roller rink in town. Either way, some people still like to look a tthier phones while they do it! Usually, they are trying to take pictures. It is in fact a menace to others on the rink.

This is just sad to think about, why would anyone wart to look at their phone with disco ball lights casting their particular shimmer everywhere?

It used to be fun to watch the drunk people roller skate at Pleasure Island. I am surprised the skating there lasted as long as it did.

I don't remember a Roller Disco on Pleasure Island and while what is there now is fun I do wish they had kept what was once there as sort of a "Historic District" maybe one of the new resorts will bring all that back someday....
