Depends on how you define flaming. Came into first contact with internet flamers long before facebook was even an idea. And even then, as flamers, they were newbies compared to the even worse flamers of today.

I suppose these days they would be called trolls. However trolls usually have an agenda. Typically political such as the anti-Disney 'anti-woke' trolls. Flamers back in the day didnt have any kind of real agenda they just wanted insult you and get into it with you regardless of the topic. To use an old cliche... they just wanted to watch the world burn. Hence 'flamers'. I remember them well. This was also before the invention of smart phones. Anyone connected used a PC or Mac. It took effort. Different era and different crowd of people.

But yes... quite different from 'flaming'.

Even worse than this when you wake up and find that your relatively new iPhone died completely. I suppose the 5th picture would be your red head exploding. Especially when you need a cell phone immediately and cant wait for it to be repaired.
