I refer to the houses by the names of the people that USED to live there, such as "John's house" or "Bob's house". Even though "John" and "Bob" no longer live there. In some cases the people I named the house after have been gone for decades.

Yeah, I do this. I live in the house that was my grandparent's house and where I grew up. Every house is named after the kids who lived there. Amazingly, the house across the street where my best friend's grandmother lived was still hers until she passed recently, and my buddy's little brother took it over. Another house across the way was also a friend of our's grandmother, and still is, with their mom living right next door, so all of those still stick!
