Isn't it funny how someone that went to the depths of debauchery and did everything wrong becomes a role model for kids when millions of hard working, wonderful people spend their lives doing the right thing and don't get any acknowledgement or even a mention of the things they have done to make the lives of children and others respectable and successful.
I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve credit for pulling himself up. What I am saying is that we humans appear to be far more able to reward people for decades of bad behavior because they stopped for their own personal reasons than those that do everything they can to do the right things all their lives. Yes, we all make mistakes but those mistakes are not as self destructive as those that "famous" people make. There are no tabloids talking about those that never fell into that pit only to climb out. Congrats to those that did, but how about a high five for those that managed not to need to take the dark path to do the right things.I admire anyone who IS DOING the right thing. Robert Downey Jr. IS DOING the right thing.
My goodness, if we are all just defined by our past mistakes, there isn’t hope for any of us! What’s the point of even trying to do better?
