Isn't it funny how someone that went to the depths of debauchery and did everything wrong becomes a role model for kids when millions of hard working, wonderful people spend their lives doing the right thing and don't get any acknowledgement or even a mention of the things they have done to make the lives of children and others respectable and successful.
Still seems one of human natures less then wonderful natures to basically worship people that screwed up their lives big time and then just decided to live the way that most people behaved since birth and because they were lucky enough to not accidentally kill themselves we make them hero's. I know, fame and all, but how screwed up are we anyway. It's a wonder we aren't all addicts.I think it's used as an example of never being too late to change in the same way famous people who die of over doses are held up as an example of what not to do. He was famous before he hit rock bottom. Easier to use an example people know than a random person.
I see it in different ways. Stories like his are a reminder that people don't have to be absolutely doomed to their circumstances. This goes for the people we know who may have somewhat similar struggles (substance addiction, for example) or even those of us who may live relatively straight and narrow lives but encounter challenges along the way.Isn't it funny how someone that went to the depths of debauchery and did everything wrong becomes a role model for kids when millions of hard working, wonderful people spend their lives doing the right thing and don't get any acknowledgement or even a mention of the things they have done to make the lives of children and others respectable and successful.
