Just wanted to share a cute story :)

I work with children with autism and today was our last day of school. I was in the classroom and the lead teacher was talking to one of the students (6 years old) and talking about all the fun things they did this year.

Then the teacher asked the child "What was your favorite part of this year?" The student looked at him with a smile and said "tomorrow!":rotfl:

Just thought it was such a cute comment! :cutie:

Kids are so funny :lmao:

I worked with a child with Autism this year also. She *graduated* elementary school this year, so she won't be at our school next year. :sad1: (I've known her for 3 years and she was with me all day every day all this past year. Needless to say, I got a LITTLE attached. We all have...she's just such a great kid! :cutie: )

On *her* last day of school (3 days before the last day...they were going on vacation I think) she got called to the office to check out. She flies up out of her chair and high-tails it out the door without even looking back. I told her "T... Wait and we'll walk with you." She looks back and says "I can do it on my own." AWWWWW!!!!!! :goodvibes (I almost started crying right then, but was able to keep it in until she was out of the building...LOL!)

Now, that's what we worked all year to hear. It's the kind of thing we've been encouraging. Talk about bittersweet! I didn't know what to say. Luckily, another aid was there and told her "T, I know you can do it, but we'd like to do it for us. We're going to miss you!" To which she replies stoicly "oh....OK." :lmao:

She had no sense of finality. At all.....none! LOL! I know it hit later and I pity her mom. I know when it finally hit her, it had to be BAAAAAAAAAD at their house! (T is a bit of a drama queen...:rotfl2:)

August will be so strange without her there, but knowing she's in a great school that can meet her needs helps a ton. But gosh, we are REALLY going to miss that child!

Thank you for sharing that story & congratulations-it is because of people like you that she made it to that level!:goodvibes
