Funny headline about women's dressing room incident

It gets to a point you just give up. We expect it, sad to say. Last time the police were called in they let the guy go who assulted her. They did not even get his name. Basically blamed it on us.:confused3( I guess we need to wear skirts.....but even that would not help). I will say that Target did a great job calling in the police and protecting us.

That makes me sick. :sad2:

Yay Target! Just one more good reason to shop there.

So, my ex shouldn't be allowed to go into the fiiting room area when he takes my 7 & 9 year old DDs shopping???? Should they go in by themselves, or should my little girls go into the men's fitting rooms? What do you suggest? Enlighten me please.

They should go in the fitting room and he should wait outside. Men do not belong in a womens fitting room. That is why they are gender specific. If that doesn't work there is always the option of buying clothes, taking them home, and then returning what doesn't work. While that may be a hassle, people in fitting rooms shouldn't have to deal with members of the opposite sex in with them.

Sorry, but I don't think that he should enter an area if it is meant for girls. Maybe he can ask someone who works at the store if they can find or arrange an appropiate place.

I really think that this is more of an issue for teen (or puberty age girls) and adults. I have been in women's stores and even Victoria's Secret where males have been in dressing areas approving what their partner is trying on. I think a dressing area should be more private.

I don't think he should, no.

They can buy the clothes and try them on at home and return them if they don't fit, or they can go in by themselves (or together, if he has them both).

I don't have a daughter, so I don't completely understand the frustration. I have two boys and until they were about 6, they went in the women's fitting room with me. At about age 6, though, they wanted to go in the men's fitting room by themselves. I, of course, taught them what to do if they had any trouble and I stood by the door where I could hear them.

The fitting rooms are enclosed! There is usually a hallway or open area for others to wait in...are these teens or older women getting changed in the open area? No, I would hope not, they are going into a room and changing. What is the big freaking deal? You guys are talking like you have never worn a swimsuit to a public pool or beach~ where there are all kinds of men standing around! You don't want some stranger looking at you wearing a pair of jeans and shirt in an OPEN AND PUBLIC area!?!? That makes no sense. People really need to grow up. My ex will continue to wait in the waiting area by the fitting rooms to make sure that A. the clothes my DDs are selecting fit them appropriately and B. that nothing happens to my minor children while they are in there.

No, he shouldn't.He should take them shopping with another female that can go in with them or allow them to go in together. At 7 & 9 that shouldn't be a problem with him right outside. I also like the suggestion of making the purchase, taking it home and trying it on.

How would you feel if your were in the womens changing room with your daughters and a man walked in while your kids were in there?

He just does not belong in a ladies changing room.

This is what I thought. I'm not talking about a sports-type locker room where everyone changes in the open. I'm talking about the store kind where you go into a private room and come out wearing the clothing (or bathing suit) to show someone or look in the mirror, and that is where the men are. Even a half door is enough to keep them from seeing you naked, except maybe your ankles and calves. Presumably the clothing will be worn in public anyway where there will be people of all ages and sexes seeing you.

Maybe it is like the boys in the bathroom thread and not only will a boy hearing you pee through a door make you go into convulsions but hearing you rustle the clothes as you change will do the same.

If I come out of the changing room to look in a mirror and there are women there I really don't care, why would anyone? Even in a bathing suit you are dressed. Until the DIS I didn't realize people got so worked up over such minor things.

Geez. If you feel the right to tell me to grow up, I'm going to feel ok telling you to calm down.

It's just uncomfortable. Sometimes the curtain doesn't close all the way. Sometimes the doors don't shut right. Sometimes there is no lock on the doors.

And sometimes you want to wear your bathing suit out in the middle to look in the three way mirror. Maybe it's way too revealing and you didn't notice until you did look in the big mirror.

I'm guessing you'd be okay with men using the women's restroom, then, too? After all, there are individual stalls in them.

I absolutely think that men should not be allowed in female gender specific dressing rooms. It would have made me very uncomfortable as a young girl/teen. Now, I almost always shop by myself and would not want to see a man hanging out there. The doors are flimsy and sometimes there are just curtains. If it becomes "normal" for a man to wait for his partners, daughter, etc., then people will begin to think nothing of a guy who is just being a creeper.

I also have a ten year old sister and would not want a guy in the dressing rooms while she was changing in a stall. It's simply not appropriate.

Uhh...We are talking about a changing area. Where women are taking off their clothes.
I would get upset if there are strange men in there. Especially if there are only either curtains or half doors.

I have many times seen the entire faces (including the chin and neck) of other tall women over the half doors as they go by my dressing room. I imagine that men can look over them too.

If it is a dressing room for girls it is not an OPEN AND PUBLIC area. There are some cases where you try something on and need to come out for mirrors to make sure that you are comfortable with the fit. After looking in a mirror there are some items that you would not want to wear in public. You should not have to do this in front of strange males if you are in a female dressing room. We have been in dressing areas and trying on formal gowns where another size that might actually fit needs to be ordered. It may be too small for the zipper to work or the straps may be all wrong. The clerks are there to assist you and you shouldn't have to do this in front of a strange male.

I suggest he asks a female employee to help the girls. That's what they are there to do.

When my DS gets too old for the ladies fitting room, I will probably just have my DH go with him, ask a male employee or buy multiple sizes and take back the ones that don't fit.

I certainly would not go into a men's fitting room with him.

Well said.

I've seen this a lot at Kohls. The dressing rooms have nice, private doors, but there is always men inside! Often they sit in an empty stall with the door open. Sometimes they are IN the room of their girlfriend/wife. Just last week there was a guy inside and I swear they were doing more than trying on clothes!

The store was a total mess too. I rarely shop on weekends, so I was quite shocked at all the clothes left in stalls, on the floor, around the fitting room area. It was disgusting.

While shopping with my dds, I have noticed that in stores such as Aero, PacSun, and Hollister they have dressing rooms that open right off the sales floor-it's like a row of closet doors along the wall. They are for use by males or females, and you usually have to get an employee to unlock them for you to use. They are big enough to have a bench/mirror inside so I just go in with my dd. So males could be changing right next door, or standing right outside the door looking at racks of clothes, etc. So what? The door doesn't go all the way to the ground but nothing is visible. She never has to exit the dressing room to look in a mirror. These seem to work well.

I haven't seen a dressing room with a curtain in many many years. Does anyplace still use curtains? :confused3

Doesn't bother me one bit. unless of course the person is opening doors or peeking over the top, he isnt going to see anything you wouldnt see at the beach. And chances are he isnt looking. But then again I am in theatre and am used to changing in front of people, so honestly its no big deal to me.

WooHoo a dressing room debate. (Last one didn't end well for me.) :lmao:

Even though I have fallen into the debate, I really did think the headline was funny. It reminds me of reading past debates on this topic. And really, don't you think the image of 10 angry women chasing a man out of the dressing room area is a little funny.
