So I'm at a work related lunch today and am seated across from this guy who comes to a lot of functions but I never really talked to. He's probably in his 50s- 60s, just an average looking kinda nerdy guy. Anyway, halfway through the lunch I notice his tie has hologram Mickey heads on it so I said, "I like your tie!". This started a 30 minute conversation on our love for WDW much to the chagrin of our 4 other tablemates. :lmao: One of the people though was SHOCKED that we had free dining, he said, "Disney must be desperate!" It just made me chuckle how little the general public really knows and how they feel that Disney is just wayyyyyy out of their vacation budget. Anyway, it was a happy moment finding another Disneyophile in an unlikely place!

I know what you mean. :lmao:

I was accosted by my school nurse the other day. :rotfl: She found out I was a Disney person too, and she kept returning to my office to talk to me some more and to pick my brain on everything from dining to which DVC was the best. Every time she came back, she'd talk to me for 15 minutes and then leave, saying: "I HAVE to go back to work." But then she'd come back a little while later. Later on in the day, she told me I'd made her day by talking Disney with her.

Exactly! We were talking about all the different themed restaurants and I think my table mates were shocked that it wasn't just hot dogs and fries from a counter. It's always nice to find a kindred spirit!

I recently attended a business dinner with a rather quiet gentleman from Japan. The conversation was uncomfortable and there were great lags until somehow the subject turned to Disney. "Ahhhhh!! Mickey Mouse!!," was what I suddenly heard exclaimed from across the table. Not only did the conversation move along quite faster, I also ended up staying very late to share Disney World stories and memories with my new Disney friend! :cloud9:

I am a preschool teacher and one of our families is planning their first WDW trip. I was surprised to hear the parent telling another parent how this trip was such a big deal and how they'd saved for five years for the trip. :confused3
My preschool serves mainly higher income families and I know this family is in that category. It made me sad to see the stereotype that a "WDW is a once in a lifetime trip and sooo expensive" perpetuated. One of the other parents did tell her to talk to me because I go twice a year! :)
