Helping my girlfriend give away her 1 1/2 year old female great dane. She does not have enough time for the dog due to her job. The dog was rescued from a fire and we were told she was full dane but I do not believe that by looking at her. She is an outside dog and is not housetrained. She was crate trained but hasnt used a crate in over a year. The dog does chew everything, has chewed every bed given to it and its dog house but it will not chew on bones we give it. The dog also digs and tries to escape from the yard by digging, jumping over the fence, tearing the fence down or just running away when the gate is open. The dog does not like to go on jogs after about a half mile she will just sit down and not want to move. Also tried taking her to the park and she just sits and does not play. She only knows the sit command and does not fetch or play with doggie toys we buy. She has only been around her litter mate so I do not know how she will act around other dogs or children. Her litter mate who was already adopted had heartworms so she most likely does too. She does also have demodex, non contagious hereditary mange, that was treated but may or may not come back. thats pretty much all I know about the dog.

:lmao: I feel bad for the dog, but who's going to adopt them after reading this?

Maybe secretly, HE doesn't want to give the dog away but SHE does :confused3

Oh my word! Please tell me they live in a semi-warm climate! That dog is going to freeze to death if it's left outside. Dane's aren't exactly known for their thick coats. :sad1:

BTW: I think I would run away too.

I live in lower Alabama & we've been wearing t-shirts & shorts the last few days, so no worries on the weather. I've have my ac on the last few days just to kill the humidity in the house.

I feel bad for this dog, but I bet a previous poster is right, maybe he doesn't want to get rid of the dog.

Come on... it has to be a joke... right??

(maybe scroll to the personals and you may find an ad from the girlfriend looking to get rid of a BF who wont get rid of a dog!)
