Funniest pet names?

DW used to work at a vet clinic. They had a cat that one of the vets rescued. He was the world's most placid cat. He'd just lounge around all day.

They named him "Spud".

We have Piper and Kreacher

Piper is a westie (breed originates in Scotland). One of our favorite movies is "So You Married an Ax Murderer". Her name comes from the "piper is down" scene, as does my screen name.

Kreacher...obvious reference to Harry Potter. He's a mutt with min pin features. He's loyal to a fault, but very cranky to outsiders. DH likes to quote the book..."Kreacher serves the house of piperdown"

We have the Spy cat. She used to spy on my kids before she came up and adopted us. So, my daughter just named her Spy.

My mother's dog's real name is Pepper - but we all just call her Stupid. She likes to chase parked cars!:lmao:

my babysitter's mom had a dachshund named "NoName"

& a neighbor years ago had a cocker spaniel named "shoe/ Shoo"

forgot to add that when growing up my parents were given a yorkie that my great grandmother had named STUMP so my mom added an "ER" to the end so he became Stumper.

Growing up, we had one of the worlds ugliest dogs. Her name was Mess, but my dad called her 'p!$$er'. Now I have Lucy (dog), Kai (cat) and Wilber (guinea pig). I have a friend who named his dog 'ask her, she knows'. Very fun conversation the first time you meet the dog. 'Cute dog, what's her name?' Ask her, she knows :)!! We just call her ask her. My parents have a dog who went through 2 or 3 owners before they rescued him. They named him Hobo

We have a one dog and one cat. They were given very ordinary pet names. However, over the years their names morphed into... B-Ripper or Beesh (dog) and a The Thing (cat).

I love when pets have people names, so I named my cat Millicent Louise! I call her Millie Lou:)

Got a few...

When I was a kid, we had a dog named Diogee--sounds kind of Italian. But say it slow...Dee-oh-gee....D--O--G.

I can't believe someone else used this. We didn't have an actual pet named this, but we called my DD's toy dog Diogee. ;)

We have a cat name Tink. We thought he was a she and decided on Tinkerbell. After we found out it was a boy, we stayed with Tinker. We have a couple rescues that had names we changed. Our Simba was originally Sonic since he was found at Sonic Drive-thru. He seemed more like a Simba to us. One was named Q-Tip and that was just too soft of a name and we felt he needed a strong name. He is now Samson and a great little guy. One is named Twiggy and she was really thin when we got her. She does not live up to her name now. :rotfl:

I just got done laughing out loud over the Bassett Hound (in that thread) named "Hoover". If you've ever owned a hound, you'd know they should all be named after vacuums, the way that they will eat anything!

lol how Hoover got his name was funny. When I picked him up to take him home the girl came running out after me yelling "you forgot his hoove!" meaning his much chewed upon pig hoof. The pup looked up at "hoove" like it was his name.

After that we spent a day with him with his nose to the ground sniffing everything VERY loudly and my dad commented that he sounded like a dying vacuum. After Dad said that I had a moment of inspiration and yelled out "hey, Hoover" and the puppy came trotting right over.

His registered name therefore became "Sir Earbert Hoover" - a very dignified name for a very undignified dog.

lol.... glad I made you laugh! Bassetts are such silly dogs for the most part and it takes a certain kind of dog lover to truly appreciate them :thumbsup2

The other half of my previous post disappeared :confused3

Back in 2002 we had adopted a beautiful, and dignified two-year old brindle boxer (who I think had a sneaky bullmastiff somewhere in her family tree) named Myra. Myra answered to many things depending on her mood- Pretty Girl, Stinky, but her absolute favorite was "Precious" especially when I would do it Gollum style lol.

When Myra was 5 we got got a 12wk old fawn boxer puppy. She was *the* goofiest thing and we named her Peanut. It fit her to a "t".

Fast forward a few years and we've lost both boxers (Myra to age at 12, and Peanut to a brain tumor earlier this year) and now have mastiffs. Nadia, a dogue de Bordeaux, is a retired show dog we adopted almost three years ago. She answers to and prefers to be called Moose.

About six months ago we adopted Maggie, a year old mahogany (think black) Neapolitan mastiff. She's got some issues (cleft lip, funky shaped jaw, and a truly defective tail that she can't raise and has five hard bends in it). One of the funniest things about her is that her wrinkles often block her vision and she walks into things. Shortly after her arrival I started calling her "Miss Magoo" and now she answers to Magoo. She also has this habit of forgetting to take her back half with her when she tries to walk from a sitting position. This has earned her the knickname of "Walrus".

So right now I have Moose and Walrus - something I think would make an awesome name for a bar (or maybe an icecream parlor).

My indoor pig is named Ducky. When he was born he sounded like a duck. When I get my outdoor ducks, my DH wants to call one Piggy. :lmao:

We have a cat name Tink. We thought he was a she and decided on Tinkerbell. After we found out it was a boy, we stayed with Tinker. :rotfl:

My aunt & cousins had this happen - but changed Tinkerbell to Tinkerbell-Steve. :rotfl2:

Our Tillie was affectionately referred to as "Lump". No prizes for guessing why.

My son had a hamster named Porkmeow. He was five and it's what he wanted to name it. We didn't ask any questions. Lol. He named his other two Gramster and Racer 98.

My mom said when I was a baby and my brother was a toddler, she got two goldfish and let us name them. My brother named his Coco and I named mine Um. I keep telling her I was still thinking...

Right now we have a Leopold (Leo), a cat; Anatevka (Tevi, Tev, Minnie - she looks like Leo), a cat; Hunter (youngest named him when he was six. He was almost named Wolverine), a beagle; and Cookie, a cockatiel.

Not that they're particularly funny names, but our two cats are Monster and Dio. People usually ask if Monster lives up to her name (um...yes, sometimes). And for Dio, we often get a funny look and "You named your cat God?" (no, he's named for DH's favorite singer, Ronnie James Dio). It was ironic when, making a vet appointment for him this year, the lady had some difficulty with his name and called him Diablo.

Our next pet, dog or cat, will be Bowie, but we often joke that if we get another cat, we're going with Katt.

My bff named his Siamese cat, Ping.

The camp I went to as a kid, had both a dog named Diogee, but also a cat named Siete or C.A.T. that lived there.

I'm surprised at how often this name has come up on this thread. I used to know a rancher whose dog was Diogee. I always thought that was cute and unique. Never realized... it's still cute, though :cutie:
