Funniest or Strangest reason for ride interruption

When I was younger I stood up on Peter pan when it was flying and they had to stop the ride until I sat down - oops!

You see, the people who are responsible for these stories is what caused Splash Mountain to get ride restraints. :headache:

These both happened at Disneyland.

There were twelve in our party, so yeay, we all fit on one entire Space Mountain train. We all got in, settled down, and it started to go. Then it stopped right in front of the person looking down on you. We now know that there's a scale under there, because they held us there for a few minutes, and then took two of our group off. We weighed too much to all go together! Kind of embarrassing, but we got to come right back on with a baby pass.;)

Weeks before they stopped the People Mover all together, my DH, DD and I were riding with a young couple and it stopped. We sat and chatted;getting to know each other as you do, when eventually The Voice announced that we were going to have to walk off of the ride. Well, if you've ever been on that People Mover when it's outside and near the Monorail station, you know it's about 20' in the air!
We had to crawl out of the "window" of the car and then follow a CM as he led us along the narrow, high track. I was not a lot of fun! I'm not sure the poor People Mover ever moved again!:sad2:

And then there's the guy who, on the very day we checked in back in Nov. 2000, who got up, fell in the tracks and got crushed by the next boat. We had just gotten in to the room, I turned the TV on one of the local channels and there it was on the screen: "Special Report: Death on Splash Mountain".

This thread is making me laugh. Can't believe people would do some of these things!!!

I'm glad this was resurrected! We've been on tons of rides that have been stopped, but we usually never figure out why...I think sometimes it's to load folks in wheelchairs. Seems like we get stopped on Spaceship Earth quite a bit.

This doesn't exactly count, but we waited in line for TSMM for 90 minutes and we were just about to board when the ride shut down for the rest of the day. We heard CMs talking on our way out that a cable holding one of the cars had snapped...they were speculating about weight restrictions not being adhered to or something of that nature. If that's true...yikes.

Wellll..........once on Dinosaur....someone who shall remain nameless....... We were getting on the first row of the car & we were 1 person short of a full row, so as I was the last one getting in that row, I decided to leave a seat between me & my daughter. Only thing is when the ride started to pull off, I put my hand on the seat between us for just a moment and when I removed my hand the ride stopped. Everyone on that car had to get off & get on another car. Seems the ride thought when I put my hand there then moved it that it was a person who moved. Of course the nice cm had to explain what happened then went on to wish me a happy birthday by name, lol.

I don't know if this shuts down rides at the time, but I did read once that people spread loved one's ashes in rides. Once CM's find out they shut it down to clean it up.

Please tell me this is a sick joke. I mean why would someone want their remains poured onto a spot where a janitor will sweep them up eventually? That's just... I don't even know how to describe my shock/disgust. It sounds no different from pouring a person's ashes in a trash can! I can't believe people do this.

people do it on the Haunted Mansion a lot, probably thinking the ashes will blend in:scared1::scared1::scared1:

We once had a ride interruption on the Great Movie Ride, of all things. Some kid (who seemed to be around 10-11, so older than you would expect to do this) got scared or something during the gangster scene and peed his pants. His parents got really mad and demanded that their group be let off the ride. At first they weren't allowed to, but eventually they complained enough for the next few minutes that the ride stopped and they went out one of the emergency exits. I know this had to have been awful for them, but the way the gangster stayed so in character in all his responses to this was priceless!

Last year, I was waiting for RnRR. My boyfriend is not a fan of roller coasters, so he was waiting outside. I got a FP and headed in. I got to the line for my car and it stopped. They replaced something and loaded us into the cars. We got locked into the cars and then they stopped the ride again. The crowd next to the fence was starting to get VERY rowdy, yelling at the CMs, etc. It was a little crazy. Then they really started screaming. A girl had passed out and they had to roll her out in a wheel chair. They finally got us going. Half way through the ride, the music cut out. We got to the end and then stopped immediately. We were sitting there for awhile and started to freak out because we thought the next car was going to hit us. They finally moved us, but the music had not started again. It took me 1.5 hours to get through the ride, with a FP. I got out and my poor boyfriend thought I had died or something. They ended up shutting it down, so it must have been something big! Definitely a little scary.

A little OT, but here goes....

Once at US while in the Twister attraction, it had just started. We were in the soundstage waiting for the tornado to start. I think there was some wind and the emergency lights were flashing. We all stood there waiting for the show to start and had no idea why it wasn't starting (maybe 5 minutes or so) when a Cast Member ran in from the Exit doors and told us that those flashing emergency lights were REALLY EMERGENCY LIGHTS, not part of the show!!

The fire alarm was going off, and none of us knew!!!!

Show was evacuated, and we never found out the cause. It still scares me a bit that we were left in there for that long, and none of us knew that the extra lights/alarms were not part of the show!

Back in 2003 at Disneyland DH and I got stuck on Indiana Jones. Apparently, someone in the car in front of us was thirsty and couldn't wait until they got off the ride. They opened a bottle of soda and dropped it spilling it all over the track!

At Cali's tower of terror I was on it when three people in the back did the old leave a lot of slack in the seat belt trick. About half way through the drops the ride just stopped. A voice came on and said "you know we can see you.". The ride then went to the bottom and a cm came in and made everyone release and redo our seatbelts. The mensas tried again to leave slack and" the voice" along with the cm chewed their butts. But they didn't kick them off. Just requed and off we went again from the start

Last year we were on Splash Mountain and just as we were heading to the base of the ramp that brings you to the top of the big drop, the ride stopped. There was one log in front of us already heading up, it stopped too We kept hearing faintly "put your shirts back on" over the intercom. We were right underneath the talking crows so it was hard for us to hear at first, but when the crows stopped, we could hear. They continued to announce it to them over the intercom and it got to the point that we were also yelling it too. After about 5 minutes and many times of them coming over the loud speaker to tell them to put their shirts back on, someone came out of the control booth at the top and told them to put their shirts back on. They were right in front of us in line and I know that they spoke English. Their hearing just seemed fine in line, so I know that they heard.

During an EMH at AK last may, a teen about 18 to 19 got up from under his bar on EE as we roared backwards about to drop:scared1:. He caused the ride to be shut down for about 40 minutes:confused3. The CM came out and told him that he had better be glad it was him coming to get him and not security with a body bag:eek: He was taken off the ride and they had to reset the sequence causing all the coasters behind us to stop on the incline:scared1:.

I was scared just being in the dark with the Yeti next to my head:rotfl:, there is no way I would have lasted that long on the ramp up:faint:. I had to pick my heart up of the ground when the ride was over:eek:. I hated the fact that they went into the drop (where we stopped) and gave me a mini death. I was terrified:eek:. I don't ever want to experience that again I would be crying like this . There is a reason the prepare you for those drops:mad:

Thanks for giving this thread life again, some of these are LOL funny:lmao:

Sadly, this is common for Haunted Mansion and other attractions. In fact, it happens so much that Disney has developed a special vacuum designed to efficiently pick up human remains.

A relative of mine was chaperoning a group of young teenage boys at Disneyland. On the Pirates of the Caribbean ride the guys jumped out of the boat and were playing in one of the scenes. "The voice" told them to get back in the boats or the ride would be shut down.

This is all so crazy!! I cannot believe it! lol

I would think Disney would have a NO TOLERENCE policy about this, people who do this stuff should be kicked out of the park, no refunds!
