Funnel Cakes in MK - Anyone Know if PN/TN Safe?

I noticed on another post that funnel cakes (available at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom) are sometimes available for a snack credit on the dining plan.

My son is PN and TN allergic. Has anyone checked recently if these are safe for these allergens? Or does anyone eat these regularly? It would be fun to let him have a funnel cake at Disney.

Thanks!

Check out the information in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is contact information for dietary information in that post. You can email and find out the information you are looking for.

You can find the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature.

I too would like to know the answer to this.

I have looked through the boards and can't find an answer. I don't know if I am missing something. My DD is highly allergic to peanuts and I am trying to figure out what kinds of snacks are OK for her.....she's also only 17 months old and doesn't have many teeth to chew with!

THANKS

You will get the information you are looking for by contacting WDW Special Dietary information.
Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread has information on how to do this. It's in the alphabetized area of conditions or concerns

There are quite a few past threads about different dietary concerns on this board. Even if someone posts an item is safe, it's best to check each trip because WDW can and does change ingredients and suppliers periodically.

were NOT safe at EPCOT in December 2009. The mix is manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts and tree nuts....

I have yet to find a cast member in a food booth that could not answer a peanut, tree nut allergy issue.

We used to go with 14 life threatening food allergies... and NEVER had an issue at any restaurant, counter service or kiosk with allergy questions...

We have grown out of 12 of those allergies!!! Still peanut and sesame...

Disney is the Safest Place on Earth!!! for food allergy kiddos!!

I would urge caution and strongly suggest you speak with a manager/supervisor/chef at each place as per Disney policy. They are trained to deal with allergies. The average CM is not.

Sue has provided some very good info her post at the beginning of this thread. Contact special diets, they will be able to help.

Not sure about MK, but I know at Blizzard Beach they were not as they were fried in the oil that the deep fried ice cream (has peanut coating ?) was fried in...

I understand your feelings and worries. My DS as diagnosed at 2 just 4 days before we went to Disney for the first time :scared1:
He did fine, and in every trip since has been great. We too find it an excellent place to be for allergic kiddies !:hippie::hippie:

I did send Brenda Bennett a note about this, and she said,"The Funnel Cakes are by Gold Medal and the mix is produced in a plant that produces peanut products. They do not contain peanut products."

My question was very specific - whether the funnel cakes in Sleepy Hollow in the Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom would be safe for a peanut allergy.

We avoid all may contains, so we won't try it.

Thanks to everyone for their help - especially Sue.

ask, ask again and if your not sure the person you spoke to was sure, ask for a manager or supervisor.
This goes for any food service facility, not just Disney.
That being said, Disney is the most reliable place I have ever worked with with my DS's allergies.
I have found that if a CM isn't sure, they do not hesitate to find someone who knows, and if they can't don't eat at that kiosk.

Have a great trip and just keep asking, asking and asking...

We also have an Allergy Alert Card that we present to all servers and chefs. I contains information about cross contamination, prep areas and what to do in the event of an emergency. You may want to think about obtaining one of those for your emergency kit.

Divvies chocolate chip cookies are available at Main St Bakery as well as several counter service places and are made by a company specifically designed to serve the food allergic community. They are milk, egg, and peanut free. Both my kids, FA and non-FA, like them.
