These items are not familiar to me - can anyone tell me what they are?

There seems to be a whole lot of Funnel Cake on sale around the parks, and we're booked into the Biergarten in Germany where Spaetzle is on the menu.

well i think a funnel cake is something between a pancake and a waffle! its supposed to be sweet and i think you can choose to have toppings on it.

i don't know what the other one is though!

Spaetzle is a type of noodle. Yummy!

A funnel cake is a fried dough usually with powdered sugar on top. Double yummy!

Spaetzle is tiny noodles or dumplings made with flour, eggs, water or milk, salt and sometimes nutmeg. Spaetzle is usually boiled and tossed with butter. In Germany, it is often eaten as a side dish.

Funnel Cake is batter that is poured through a funnel into hot oil and fried. It's really good with powdered sugar or fruit (or both!!) on top.

Both are favorites in our house. :)

YUM YUM

Funnel cake is a like a fried doughnut....fried dough with powdered sugar and/ or cinnimon on top. It's very good you can also ask to have a little Ice cream on top and have a funnel cake sundae :goodvibes

Spaetzle is a noodle....my grandfather came from germany, this is a SUPER special treat for my father and my aunt, they FLIP if they can get Spaetzle.
it is kind of like Spagetti noodles, but it is more of a dumpling. tiny little dumplings that are so very good!

** if you have a Aldi grocery store near you,
they sell boxes that you can make it at home to try it, it is not the " authentic homemade" way, but it comes close. ( and takes about 2 hours off preperation time)

Both of these are very good!!

I make them both at home.

We always look forward to the Spatzel in Germany at Epcot!! The Sauce is very good that goes on it make sure to give it a try!

My children got me a funnel cake set for at home, they are delicious... we like to put peanut butter on them and then drizzle them with chocolate. They are good with just powdered sugar too!

Here's Spaetzle with Mushrooms from the Germany Booth at Food & Wine last year

Do those noodles have a broth on them, or a sauce?? I am not familiar with them either!

Typically, no. Spaetzle is very bland tasting. It's more like a "filler" food. Made so you feel full but there's not that much to it. Used a lot during war times when there wasn't a lot of food to go around. It's cheap to make and you think you aren't hungry anymore.
