Does anyone else seriously hate fundraising?
My grade eight class is going to Quebec in June and we need to do fundraising for that and other things that will be done for the remainder of the year.
I brutally hate fundraising. I know my dad hates it when people try to sell him stuff, so I can imagine how others feel. I don't like interrupting people, and I just feel like they won't want it.
Anyone agree?

We had to raise money and we had to sell stuff from this stupid catalog stuff. When I looked through it I was like no one is seriously gonna wanna buy this crap...

I understand how you feel..

I am the fund raising queen. I can sell ice to an Eskimo.

I usually don't participate int he cookie dough or the magazine campaign, but this one is like necessary/my parents are forcing me.

I am awesome at fundraising, and as self centered as it sounds, all of the events that I don't organize fail miserably.
The secret is to know when you should ask for money, and when you should sell stuff for money. And there's a difference between selling trash and useful items.
For example, one of my friends was trying to raise money to buy soccer balls to send to Iraqi children. Her plan failed when she tried selling $12 t-shirts at lunch. No matter how much publicity you do, no one buys a $12 dollar shirt (an ugly one at that) at lunch. I tried talking her out of it, mentioning that each shirt cost $10 to make (meaning MINISCULE profits), but she wouldn't listen, and the project was unsuccessful.
When you start giving out stuff for money, like t-shirts, you create the expectation that you will continue to give out stuff. For something like this, it would be smarter to simply ask for donations. People would not be bound to a $12 dollar donation.
The worst idea ever is selling cookie dough! That's the kind of hing that most people like to make themselves. And if you're too lazy to make the dough yourself, you'll most likely go to a bakery rather than spend the time baking.
One of the best fundraisers involves art. What we do is create high quality, aestheticly pleasing ceramics, and sell them in and outside of school for hefty profits. People think that they are getting something special--a worthwile iten that is decorative and functional. The profits are soo much larger than any other fundraiser, and that includes that hideous jewelry sale they did last week.

Jeez, im horrible at fundraising! My show choir is going to ohio this year. Thats at least 10 hours away from Maryland (where we live) and we are staying for 3-4 nights. Its alot of money and to pay for half our trip we need to sell 16 boxes of candy. Each box has 52 bars of candy. The candy is $1 per bar. My mom is a stay @ home mom, so its not like she can take any to work, and my dad is deployed in kuwait. And i cant sell any to my freinds cuz most of thm are in my show choir! Oh jeez, 6 boxes down 20 more to go:sad2:
