OK. So I was accepted into this organization called The Sound of America Honor Band and Chorus (www.soundofamerica.org) It's a choir in band that travels over to Europe for the whole month of July singing in places such as Notre Dame in Paris, St. Marc's in Venice, and many prestigious concert halls and venues. They tour a total of 5 countries. As you can imagine, the price isn't cheap--$5,000. I was accepted into their choir, I sing baritone.

I really need some fundraising ideas....already doing spaghetti dinners, sending out letters to businesses asking for sponsorship and such, but I need some more ideas! So let's hear 'em!!! Thanks!!!

For trips like this I find that people are much more receptive to giving money if you offer to do some work for them. Shovel snow, babysit kids, walk dogs, clean basements, run errands...that kind of thing. Since you are obviously a talented musician, maybe you could offer lessons to younger children.

I'd suggest you put up a flyer in your grocery store offering your services. My oldest son ran a business for a couple of years where he'd go to people's houses and care for their pets and plants while they were on vacation. He always had more work over Spring Break than he could handle.

Congrats on your trip.

I don't have any fundraising suggestions, but I would like to congratulate you on being accepted. What an amazing opportunity!!

Our HS band recently did a fundraiser they called "Flock You!" where for a small fee (I think it was like $20 or something) they would go and deposit a flock of plastic flamingos in somebody's yard, office or place of business. The person who had gotten flocked could pay $10 to have them removed or $20 to have them sent to another person's house, place of business, etc. It was so cute and it even made the local news.:rotfl:

Lia Sophia offers fundraising opportunities. Their jewelry parties are always fun and those who host additional parties (which branch off from your own) will also be raising money for your fund.

Thanks! I just spoke with a representative; sounds like it could benefit me pretty well.

I don't know if they only have them here, but the girls at my school go crazy over these purse parties. Someone will come in and sell knock-off designer bags and such. Does anyone know how to get that going?
