I got invited into People to People Student Ambassadors for the Summer 07 =) France/Italy/Malta.

Does anyone have any "good" fundraisers I could use? Maybe wrapping holiday gifts at the mall, or babysitting at the local elementary school during Christmas weekends so parents can shop. Or better off, tell me which fundraisers you are absolutely sick of so I know not to use (like wrapping paper or candles) them.

Please and thanks! :)

I think your best fund raiser would be to get a job. Personally, I would not participate in a fundraiser for this. I think most people I know would feel the same way. There are SO many fundraisers out there that taking on one more is just not something they or I would do.

Golfgal-you've got a point. Thanks for the suggestion. The job I have doesn't do so well...pay's not that well :( I work at a local soft-serve ice cream shop! :)

Congrats on the invite! :)

Honestly, I am so fundraiser'ed out, it's not even funny. Seems like we're getting hit with a new one almost every single month---wrapping paper, magazines, cookie dough. You name it, most parents have probably seen it at this point. :(

I'd have to agree with Golfgal on this one; plus, (and this is the old parent in me talking, so forgive me!) I think you'd find much more satisfaction in working for the funds. If the ice cream shop isn't paying a lot, you could ask for a raise, or look into another job?

I hope you succeed at going. :cloud9:

besides your current job I would look into babysitting, mothers helper, chore helper, errand runner ( if you have a car this could be great!)

I have a friend who has her own business. She is an errand runner. She has made good money on doing that stuff that someone doesnt want to do or doesnt have time to do. People hire her on a regular basis or as a one time thing.

She will grocery shop ( including using coupons), go to Costco, Sams Club, pick up dry cleaning, go to whatever store someone wants her to, take animals to the groomers, pick up and deliver contracts, all things along those lines.
She makes a decent coin Im sure. My neighbour uses her a lot. I plan on using her sometimes too.

I have to agree that current fundraising have burned me out totally!
We dont get hit too bad but its bad enough. NO more cookie dough! ;)

I think I'll have to look for another job during the winter-ice cream is seasonal here! Hmm... :smooth:

I might do babysitting again...that was always fun.

Thanks for all the help-I DO enjoy working for funds more than selling things. I'm not a good seller.

I appreciate all the help :)

How about selling discount cards for a merchant such as Krispy Kreme? They have a fundraising card that allows the purchaser to buy a dozen doughnuts and get a dozen free (I think it is good for up to 20 purchases or so).

They do that at our school, and everyone likes to buy them. If you can find something where people shop anyway, it doesn't feel so much like "oh do we really have to buy this discount card".

Check with some local establishments and see what they say. It never hurts to ask.

I'm all for what the above posters have mentioned....just making the money on your own w/one or more jobs.

One of our neighbors did this last year and he sent one of those "I'm doing this -- will you sponsor me" letters to his relatives and neighbors. I dutifully sent him a check for $25, but I honestly wasn't real happy about it. Their family income is probably three times ours, and we have two children in college. I thought they should be paying for their kid's trip if they wanted him to go. This kid wasn't old enough to get a job himself, though.

I felt slightly better about sending $ for the three cousins (two on DH's side and one on mine) who wrote fundraising letters about mission/church-related trips, but my father-in-law didn't like getting those letters either.

I forgot to check and see where you're from. Do you have a professional basketball or football team near you? Often churches and other groups will run the concession stands to fund their projects.

It's a little difficult to explain how you make money from this so I'll just use my experience as an example. I volunteer at the stand for my friend's church. The church makes a certain percent of the sales from the stand. In return for working at the stand the church "gives" me 50 dollars per game. The money doesn't actually go directly to me. The church allows us to use the money for anything educational and they mail the check to wherever it needs to go. So for example I used my money to pay for a trip to Wash. DC for my students. Other people use it to pay back student loans or pay for tuition. I would think that people to people would also qualify.

I hope that made sense. Its a resource that a lot of people don't know about.

I would use free vacation certificates. We used them for our church by asking people to donate a certian amount of money and in return they will get a free vacation certificate. It's the best fundraiser I have seen so far. I think there website is Topitoffpromotions.
