So I was at a fundraiser last night.

The food was paid for they had a simple sign and a stack of menus at the tables promoting themselves.

The DJ was paid to be there yet he kept plugging him and his company in between every song.

What is your take in that?

Kind of annoying, but I have heard DJs do the same at weddings as well. DId anyone ask him to stop? I imagine the person with the right to complain would be the one who paid him. I hope he at least offered a discount if it was a fundraiser. I prob would have been annoyed for sure.

Sponsors tend to do that. I don't mind leaving out a business card out. Straight up plugging is irritating though.

I'd find it annoying.

If the people holding the fundraiser paid the DJ, then an announcement or two throughout the event is more than enough. If their services were donated, then perhaps more often is okay, but those raising funds should have spelled out how often the person could make that kind of announcement.

personally, it'd annoy me enough that I wouldn't even consider that particular DJ company if I had need for one. On a similar note, if a restaurant shoves their menu in my wiper or into my door at home, I won't patronize their business, because I feel it's an intrusion and adding to my trash.

Being it was a fundraiser, I just assumed that the DJ donatd their services or at least did it at a huge discount, making the plugs ok in my book :)

I'd say it was possible he donated his time and was told he could promote in exchange. Seems fair. Don't sweat the small stuff.

No he was paid his full amount as was the caterer
If they donated then its fair game

In that case I don't think he should have been making announcements advertising his business. A paid gig is just that, whether it's a fundraiser or a wedding. He's getting paid for his services, not to promote himself. A small sign with some business cards on the DJ table or stage would have been acceptable, IMO.
