Explain what FW means to you. I have never been, explain to those of us who are going for the first time what it's really like there.

Ahhhhhhhhh

That about sums it up! LOL

When I ride my bike around the Fort, I feel like I am 11 years old again. In a word....magical.

To me I get to forget all about work and all the things that pop up in the day.

And just to set back and relax for the time we are there.

And I love the cabins hope soon maybe a few years we can buy a camper and use it there.

When we built our house (we have 10 acres out in the woods)
We had a nice new 38' Coachmen trailer we lived in for 8 months as we built out house and it was a blast.

We did sell the trailer back in hmmm 04 cause we were so busy working never had time to use it.

But some day I hope to get a camper.

Ron.

Spending time with DH and our pups, relaxing in a peaceful, lovely "woodsy" setting with all the comforts of home and all the fun/amenities of being "away"... all a mere 12 minute boat ride from the magic of the MK (and about 18 minutes from a Dole Whip Float!)

In other words...:goodvibes

This is the life! Camping, friends or family, alot of good neighbors, a golfcart and Mickey mouse all rolled up into one place. Could it get any better?

peaceful contrast after being at the parks
quiet
Enjoying Nature. We are kinda nature freaks. Looking for animals is fun for us. we have contest to see who sees the most unusual critter. DH won with the otters. At home, I have won with a bald eagle. We are going to find the owl the next time we are there.
The resort activities are really fun. They get you outside not inside watch tv or paying video games.
The people that stay at FW are nice. Everyone waves as you pass by on carts or on foot. It is easy to pick up a conversation with a stranger.....I talk to just about anyone especially if I can talk about Disney.

If you want kids running down the hallway, crowds and just a place to sleep...this isn't the place for you!!!!

Well Magical is the first thing that pops into my head. However I feel that no matter where i am at Disney. But the Fort is just a whole different atmosphere than anywhere else. It is so much more relaxed and laid back. Everyone is so friendly and talkative. You get to know your neighbors many times. Nature and all the things the fort has to offer. THe feeling of sleeping in your own bed and not one that a million other people have slept in. Being able to bring all your own stuff. Being able to sit outside after a long day at the parks and have a drink and unwind with your family. I dont really know how to describe it, but it is just a peacfull feeling to me. If you arent a camping type person, you may never get it. My brothers family went to the fort last year for the first time with us and although they had a great time, i think they would prefer a hotel. :scared1:

For me, it is probably the only place on earth where I can get completely away from my office and the problems of the world. I can ride my bike to a restaurant, meet up with friends for an impromptu happy hour, take a boat to another resort, get up early and ride my bike on a trail through a small herd of deer silently eating their breakfast and paying no attention to me, take time out to watch and identify a bird, watch kids use their imagination and play in the woods (not on a video game), ride my bike to a couple of stores, relax by the pool, walk my dog, help out a new camper in distress, read a book, take a nap....want me to go on?

It's a vacation within a vacation. I love all the trees & the relaxed atmosphere after being at one of the parks. It's just so hard to explain. I just love it there.

Nothing else in the world exists when you're there. Complete relaxation. NO stress.

The parks are fun and exciting. The Fort is a calm oasis in which we head back to when we've had all the excitement we can stand. It's home because it's our motorhome and a vacation spot 'cause it's Fort Wilderness. :goodvibes We can truly forget about work and just be with one another. Can't wait!!! 34 Days and counting. :flower3:

VERY well said!! :goodvibes

I would say it's like heaven on earth there is lots to do if you want or you can just kick back and relax maybe even a little of each you can hang around your site and just camp or you can do any of the many things in the campground or resorts so it's what you want it to be totally relaxing or you can run around all day doing parks and other activity's it's what your idea of a vaction should be

In a world that is all about the newest, biggest and "baddest", it is a haven. You can return to the Fort after a year, 10 years or 20 years and it's like coming home to a warm, friendly and familiar place.

It's the solitude of a sunrise at Bay Lake, the unity of campers creating a yearly impromptu Christmas Decoration and Light show, it's seeing a doe and her fawns gently walking thru the woods without fear of death, it's the laughter of little ones playing a just invented game, it's talking to someone you've never met and feeling completely at ease, it's seeing several generations of families enjoying life together, it's the music playing at the Meadows Trading post, it's a magical experience I recently realized I am so blessed to be a part of......

Ditto to what everyone else has said!

We love camping and thoroughly enjoy ourselves no matter where we're camping but, we do love the little extras at Fort Wilderness like the proximity to Magic Kingdom, the campfire movies, Chip and Dale singalongs, and Wishes on the beach! :lovestruc

Just returned last week from the fort everybody said it was the coldest weather on record for that week but we didnt mind, it was great. We stayed in the 500 loop and it couldnt have been better.Met people from all over the country and we all were in the same frame of mind it was magical .It was our first time and cant wait to get back. When you get there eat at the Trails Inn Rest and tell Josephene little Ben from Bham Al. says Hello, she was the highlight of his trip.
