Hi, I am planning a trip in June with just me and DD 7. We will be staying at WL, and this will be our first time at that resort. What fun things should we do while at WL?

~thanks!

We're going this Aug. Have never been before, but these are some of the things we're planning on doing....Hidden Mickey search. There are supposed to be a lot of them around the Lodge. Swim, swim, and more swimming. Water-mice. At least one trip over to Fort Wilderness. Any other thoughts out there from all you WL vets????

We will be making our 3rd stay at WL this June. Our first was in June '97. 2nd was March '02 and June '03 will be our third. It's hard to go anywhere else when you find something that everyone likes so well. The pool is awsome. The grounds are beautiful. When we walk in the big glass doors, and you hear the music, and look around at the beautiful lobby, you truly feel like you are on vacation...if that makes any sense.

You will have a blast. Take time to just hang-out at the WL for a day, and explore the hotel & grounds. It is well worth the time.

Rent bicycles and ride over to Fort Wilderness campground. There's a free petting zoo and pony rides for around a 1.00, I think.

When you check in they will give you a newsletter which lists all the activities for the week.
For the kids they have duck races down the waterfall, cratfs by the pool abd pool games. Some evenings they have storytelling in the lobby. These are all free activies.
They also have hairbraiding down by the pool (for a price)
Also the water mice, bikes and slurries are available.
We love just to walk around the hotel (visit the gift shop, see the geyser).
You will never be bored at WL.

At night there is the Electric Water Pageant that runs by the resort. Also, each night at nearby Fort Wilderness there is an outdoor movie and campfire for free that my kids loved.

Hi,
My fiance and I will be there for our honeymoon, and I know for sure that we will be playing with the lincoln log area in the lobby. I've already decided that we will be going to the Once Upon a Toy store and getting the WL lincoln log set.

Have fun!

All the times we have stayed at WL we have never made it to the movie at Ft. Wilderness. What time is the movie each night, and where in the Ft. Wilderness area is the movie?

You can pick up a list of all the Hidden Mickeys in the resort at the front desk when you check in- I never have found them all!

My very favorite thing to do at the lodge is to head down to the hot tub after a long day at the parks. Looking up at the lodge against the night sky is absolutly beautiful! If you time it right, you can hop out of the hot tub and grab a spot on the beach to watch the Electrical Water Pagent.

Closely tied for my favorite thing to do is to stop by Roaring Forks and pick up one of their *fantastic* brownies (get the ones with frosting, they're the best!) and a milk, and curl up on the sofa in front of the fireplace on the 4th floor (there are fireplaces on the 5th, 6th, and of course in the lobby, too, but the 4th is my favorite!) Its so relaxing to sit back and read or catch up on notes for a trip report. Sit back, drink in the atmosphere, listen to the lobby music, its wonderful!

You can also wander over to the DVC WL Villas, right next door. There's not a lot to explore if you arent staying there, but its kind of neat just to check out the room by the entrance with all of the railroad memorabilia (The Iron Spike room, I think?)

Above all, really take time to explore! There are spots where you can step out onto a balcony and gaze across the lagoon towards the MK, little sitting areas tucked away here and there, and details everywhere you look!

Have a great trip, and if you need extra company, you know where to find me! ;)

I agree about the brownies!
I had to have one every night when we were there.
Its one of the main things I am looking forward to doing during our next trip!
