Fun, Sun, and Mickey Mouse! An August 2009 TR...new 11/19 p. 34

Oh, my, how did I get so far behind.
I have 4 links to read yet.
This was probably answered,
but you asked what Disney character this cloud formation formed:

I'm saying Briar Fox.

Sarah,
Thanks for posting a picture of the vinylmation figures. I know that I would not like to collect them, but it was fun to see them all together.:)

I think that sharing meals while at Disney is the best way to go. I really can't eat all that food that comes on the dining plans. Esp if the weather is warm.

Stayed up too late last night watching those Packers, happy that they won. Still want to see the Brewers do well. Sorry that you didn't find a full time position, maybe a sub job will turn into something long term.

Checking into WL in one week, I am super excited.:dance3:

I love the vinylmations! Are they all random or can you ever choose which ones you buy? Thanks for the WLV picture - I've never seen it so it was cool to look at the picture.

Oh I love the new vynilmations!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cure picture of you in the fun house mirror!

Ellen is funny in Universe of Energy. Every time we go on that ride it breaks down. Hopefully we can get through it next trip.

Yes, I did give the answer to the mystery cloud...not Briar Fox but I like that answer!

That's how we are too...it's just so much food and Disney already gives you such big portions!

I was happy the Packers won too. I heard a couple guys scream when they went ahead. :rotfl: I was amused by that. We're still going to 2 more Brewers games this year. It stinks they're out of it though. :sad2:

YAY for only one week! I'm soooo jealous.

I love the vinylmations! Are they all random or can you ever choose which ones you buy? Thanks for the WLV picture - I've never seen it so it was cool to look at the picture.

Sadly they are all random which is what I hate about them! Luckily the ones my sister and I got are ones we like.

Aren't they cute?! I also saw some pics from the D23 expo of some of the new sets that will be coming out next year...there were some really neat ones.

That stinks EEA always breaks down for you guys. :guilty: I hope you can get through it too.

Okay, so the first time I saw the Vinylmations I thought they looked weird & I wasn't interested. But...when I see that case of them, I kind of like the gummy bear looking ones at the bottom!

So, how did it work when you didn't know which one you'd get? I'm not sure I understand that part...

I thought I would come and join you...I can't believe you are on pg. 13 already!! I need to get to writing! LOL!

I think I peed my pants! HAHA :rotfl2: So freaking awesome!

LOL, glad you liked the video. I was pretty excited too when I saw it.

I have to say that I miss the old Stacy!

Me too. As annoying as I thought she was at first I loved all her crazy lines! We got such a kick out of some of them.

OK, let's see if I can explain this. In the picture, all the figures shown are from 3 different sets. Each set has a total of 12 figures...11 which are revealed and then one that is called the "chaser" (a mystery design that completes the set for hardcore collectors). The gummy bear ones are called the Clear set, which is the set my sister and I got ours from. We knew it was that set but the individual figures are sold in blind boxes meaning they are sealed in plastic wrappers and you don't know which exact figurine from that set you are getting until you open it. In other words if I wanted the purple one I can't choose that one. Hopefully that made a little bit of sense!

I thought I would come and join you...I can't believe you are on pg. 13 already!! I need to get to writing! LOL!

Yay, welcome! I can't believe I'm already on page 13 (now 14 I guess!) already either. It's nice to have some readers for a change. :rotfl:

Love your report so far!!! :) Can't wait for more updates.

Welcome torsie! Glad to have another reader and glad you're enjoying the report so far. There's lots more to come! :thumbsup2

We got the Toy Story Mania video game today, woo hoo! :woohoo: I'm going to go try it out right now. It even came with 3D glasses. :rotfl: This is going to be awesome. :thumbsup2

Anybody else get the game?!

What system do you play it on.

I'm trying to remember what day, Aug. 21 was. Was it Friday?
I think we were in Cozumel-
we were swimming most of the day.
It's fun seeing what you were doing on what day,
and me remembering where I was on that day.

All my kids are going to the Brewer Game Sat. nite.
My dh is going with bigwigs either next Tues. or Wed.
I should go along with him, and just go get a cheap seat. LOL.

I am caught up! WOO HOO! Sorry I arrived so late.

I can't wait to see American Idol, it looks like a lot of fun.

I just love the boat from WL. It's so relaxing and a pretty ride over to MK. :cloud9:

Yes, I know you preordered it. I can tell it is going to be quite addicting. Let me know when you pick yours up!

It's for Wii...I don't know if they made it for any other systems as of right now.

Yup, the 21st was Friday. Swimming in Cozumel sounds good!

Ohh, cool we're going Friday night since we had to exchange some of the tickets from our 9-game plan.

I am caught up! WOO HOO! Sorry I arrived so late.

That's alright, glad you made it over! :thumbsup2

American Idol was a blast. I can't wait to do it again!!

I agree, the boat ride is so neat. That was the first time we ever took a boat to the MK so it was fitting doing it on our first day. :goodvibes

Hi Sarah!

Finally all caught up now! Have been neglecting the DIS lately. :guilty: Really enjoyed seeing all the photos - it was cute seeing the 'might have been Mickey' rabbit! I note the poster said Universal films at the top! ;)

Di x

Mmm...Pizza Planet is one my favorites too. Yum!

I was so bummed out about the resort TV. I'm convinced they shot Stacey with an animal tranquilizer. The new Must Dos STINKS! What did they do to Stacey?!?! :scared1: I used to love watching the Top 7 and all the awesome Staceyisms -- Triple Mountain Whammy is my favorite. BOO! Seriously, I'm going to start a bring back the old, annoying Stacey campaign.

Hey Diane!

Yeah, I think originally Walt sold the Oswald cartoons to Universal and then he couldn't get the rights back from them. I remember reading about that in this Disney book I have...one of Walt's friends/partners had to redesign Oswald and thus Mickey was born! Crazy, huh?!

I could seriously go for some Pizza Planet right now. :thumbsup2

haha, Triple Mountain Whammy was one of my favorite too. "It's all wham!" I also like the one where she's at AK dancing with those guys and is like "The rhythm, it was all like, mmmm, in my blood." :rotfl: I think I saw that loop one too many times. ;)

August 21, 2009 (part 4)

After our break we decided to spend part of the evening at Downtown Disney. When we took our longer trips we used to have a day where we’d be able to go over there—now since most of our trips are a little shorter it’s harder to find time to squeeze it in. So off to the bus stop we went. These pictures are not the greatest since it was so cloudy.

Two interesting stories from while we were waiting:

1. I saw a group of a couple women and some younger girls. They were all wearing these bright green flip flops. I couldn’t help but wonder if they were DISers…???

2. There were these two small boys, probably around 5 or 6. They were taking fistfuls of the plants, ripping them out of the ground and then started throwing them at each other. There was a part of me (maybe the teacher in me?) that wanted to tell them to knock it off. I don’t think anybody was watching them but we couldn’t believe it. It was so obnoxious!

Anyway, when we got to DTD it was sprinkling again. Atleast if it started to pour there were plenty of places to duck into for shelter. But it was time to check out some stores. First up was the new Design-A-Tee store. Just as the name suggests you can create your own t-shirt. There are little kiosks where you can choose the graphics and text for the shirt. Unfortunately they were all being used so we weren’t able to see what they all had to choose from. But it seemed like a neat idea. We also spotted a Make Your Own Mouse Ears station where you could choose the color hat (or headband, like the Minnie ears) you wanted and there were all sorts of styles of ears…fuzzy, sparkly, you get the idea.

Next up was the Art of Disney. It’s always fun going in there. They have some amazing things! Emma spotted some really cute statues. And I think they were only a few hundred bucks. haha!

And how about this painting?
6289_1147273054434_1605780003_30581665_141841_n.jpg

I was also curious to see if they haad any new attractions posters. If you read my PTR/NYC mini TR you might remember I got the Jungle Cruise poster as a birthday gift. So I found the Art on Demand kiosk and started browsing. There were a couple new ones but the only one I can remember right offhand is the Crystal Palace. Do you remember the Year of a Million Dreams ticket designs (the black and white ones that said things like “where everyone screams at the sight of a mouse”)? Just in case you forgot they looked like this:
n20305212_31967048_8312.jpg

There were even posters like that. I really wanted to get this one of Cinderella, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty all dancing with their respective princes in front of the Main Street railroad station. It was ADORABLE but since I just got the Jungle Cruise poster I decided not to. Maybe on our next trip. We must’ve spent a good 20 minutes in there looking at everything before going over to some of the other stores. I had read about Tren-D and thought it looked pretty cool so we went in there.

My first impression was that it was a lot smaller than I had imagined! There was some cute stuff but some of it was a little too funky for my taste so I went to meet Emma and Dad in the Team Mickey store. There we found a couple tastes of home:

6289_1147273134436_1605780003_30581667_6571212_n.jpg

We were really surprised they had a Brewers shirt! We’re still hoping that some day they’ll decide to design a Brewers Mickey pin. All they have now are the “big” teams. Note to Disney: It might seem like it, but not everyone is a Yankees, Red Sox, or Cubs fan! Sorry for that little rant…

And then of course we had to stop in the World of Disney!
5210_604951375634_20305212_35617566_5200160_n.jpg

Best store ever. There’s so much to look at. Dad was looking for a new t-shirt but couldn’t find anything we liked. We saw a lot of fun souvenirs but none of us bought anything. I swear that is the first time I have ever walked out of there without getting something. OK, I did get something but it was just a new pressed penny. That doesn’t really count, does it?! Our final stop of the evening was Disney Pin Traders. My second favorite store. I ended up getting a couple more pins to add to my collection.

It was getting to be dinnertime so we went to get something to eat. Dad suggested Earl of Sandwich since he had eaten there on a previous trip and said it was pretty good. We were willing to give it a try. I think Dad got a roast beef sandwich and Emma and I both got the kids’ turkey and cheese. All I can say is that was probably one of the best sandwiches ever. It was so good! All of the sandwiches were pretty big, even the kids ones. We’ll definitely have to go there again.

Since we were done shopping we decided to head out. Rather than taking the bus back to the Wilderness Lodge right away, we ended up getting on the Contemporary bus so we could see what Bay Lake Tower was like. There was still a light rain too.

When we got to the Contemporary we walked over to the BLT entrance.

Emma wanted to go outside to the pool area but you need a room key to get back in. So Dad and I stayed inside to let her back in. Here's a couple pictures she got:

We asked one of the CMs how to get to the walkway over to the main building. She told us to talke the elevator up (to whichever floor, I can’t remember). The view from the walkway is awesome how you’re looking over the Magic Kingdom. I wonder if they let people stand up there to watch Wishes…

Impressions of BLT? Dad and I both agreed it’s in a great location but we tend to like more of the theming, like at the Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a really nice resort but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Emma, on the other hand, said that it’s the next DVC resort she wants to stay at.

When we got to the main building we went to get in line for the monorail. I spotted the five-legged goat on the mural!

I’m pretty sure there were MK EMH that night so it was really crowded. The monorails were standing room only and even then we really had to squeeze in. We took the loop around to the Magic Kingdom and like everyone else, exited there so we could catch the bus back to the hotel.

Up next: Fun at the Wilderness Lodge!
