Hi,

We are looking for some "fun" restaurants located "out of the world."

We plan to stay at the Nick hotel 3 days during our next visit and want to try a few different places. Thanks.

food is great and its a 50's diner theme....kids love the milkshakes :-) Just a regular chain rest but close by, cheap, good and fun.

We have always enjoyed Joe's Crab Shack. I'm not sure if they're still even open in the Orlando area, but it's a fun atmosphere, the kids love it! The wait staff takes dance breaks, and encourage everyone to get up and dance. There's even an outdoor play area for the kids with slides, climbing things, etc.

I think kids have the most fun at the Rainforest Cafe resturant in Downtown Disney.

And i would say the T-REX Theme resturant (makers of rainforest cafe) in Downtown Disney as well that just opened.

If they like music, BB Kings on I drive might be fun. My kids loved it. We had a really great dinner there. They have certificates available on restaurant.com

Since you are at the Nick Hotel, I would stay there. The kids shows are at night make ressies to go to those, along with the 4D movies which start at 4PM. The middle of the week they have a Dive in Movie by the Pool and weekends they have a Sponge Bob thing which we didn't get to do since it is on Saturday. We did DTD for lunch, early afternoon so we could enjoy the hotel at night.

We love the Rainforest Cafe (not tried the new t-rex one yet)

Others that we like

Sweet Tomatoes (all you can eat salad, soup etc.) - kids love the fact that they can get exactly what they want.

Logan's Roadhouse - kids love eating the free peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor (not great if you have peanut allergies though!)

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse - the show as they cook your food is always entertaining for my two.

Hope that helps,

-Kay

I second Joes Crab shack. That has been our favorite meal any where in Orlando and the kids played on the playground while we waited for food and for about 30 minutes after eating. kids range from 5-12 . enjoyed it more than rainforest cafe where they had to stay in thier seats.

Our kids loved the new T-Rex in April of this year! We even thought the food was better than Rainforest Cafe and they are owned by the same people. I think one of their favorite parts was the Dino Dig afterwards!

Bahama Breeze when there's music -- you can get food in the lounge. The appetizers are great for kids.

Is Jungle Jim's still open? Stick ONLY with the burgers. Food was dreadful. But the decor is jungly, and you get swizzle sticks with various animals on top. My kids had a collection.

edit: Jungle Jim's has a website: see the kid's menu

I am almost sure Jungle Jim's is closed, but there is a Joe's on 535 near Crossroads/Lake Buena Vista (a little farther down tho') and on 192 near Celebration Avenue in the Water Tower shopping center.

Our children loved Cafe Tu Tu Tango. I can't tell you where it is at, though, because we had left SeaWorld and were just driving around to see what looked interesting. It is a tapas restaurant, so you order a bunch of different things and all share. The evening were there, there was an artist drawing on tiles in the front and a belly dancer going around the restaurant. Fun, fun, fun! (Expensive, though.)

Tu Tu Tango is on International Drive near one of the mini-golf places, in the same area as WonderWorks, Ripley's, etc.

Have you found that most of these mentioned restaurants require reservations or a specific dress code?

I think kids have the most fun at the Rainforest Cafe resturant in Downtown Disney.

Yes Yes Yes Yes! :thumbsup2 The Fish Keep Them Entertained, The "Rain Showers" And The Stars On The Ceiling, GREAT Place To Take Kids
