going in July- haven't been to disney since 1999- plan to do Sci Fi theatre one night but need some other ideas -staying at Beach club- plan to do espn Club one night and Beaches & cream- know they don't take ADR's so hope we'll be OK there- any other ideas- been to rainforest before-

Teppanyaki, in Japan at Epcot, is wonderful. Diners are seated at grill-top tables in groups of 8 and a chef comes out and prepares your meal in front of you. The food is excellent and really not exotic -- top quality steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops (your choice, or combos available) cooked up with fresh vegetables and noodles/rice. This is a fun place to eat with excellent food, IMHO.

If your family likes seafood, Coral Reef in Epcot is also a great choice -- a huge aquarium dominates the restaurant and the food is very good (and does include some non-seafood choices).

Are they sports fans? If so, how about ESPN Club at The Boardwalk?

And of course Whispering Canyon.

isn't that a character meal- I think they're to old for that. maybe I'm wrong -let me know.o

:wave2: 'Ohana is a character meal for breakfast but not for dinner. Now they do have activities for kids such a coconut races. But it's fun to watch.
The food is good and it is such a fun atmosphere. :woohoo: When we were there we had a table by the window with a view of the castle. :cloud9:

Just got back with DD (11) and she wasn't too old for the character meals...heck I'm 37 and love the character meals. Crystal Palace before MK opening is one of our favorite meals with Pooh & friends, then we've got a head start when the park opens. I agree that both 'Ohana and Whispering Canyons have a fun atmosphere. Sci Fi was my first choice, you won't hear rave reviews about the food, but we thought it was fine and we all loved the cheesy movies. DD loved Beaches & Cream, but mostly because she loved the sundaes.

50s Prime Time is a lot of fun for kids and teens. The waiters will give them nicknames and remind them to clean their plates all while watching B&W TV! They would also like Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney, so much to look at. Morrocco is exotic and different, another good experience for that age.

We just got back and my 11 and 13 year olds loved ESPN, Sci Fi, and Rainforest Cafe at AK. We stayed at Coronado Springs and they enjoyed the Pepper Market also.
