If there were no DIS and no internet, who would you call for your answers to these questions?

Couldn't call my mom - she has severe Alzhiemers - wouldn't call my sister (she eats strange foods and cooks in a strange manner) - cousin doesn't do turkey - MIL passed away many years ago (as did my grandparents).. Hmm.. I think I would have to rely on a cook book.. LOL..

Who would or could you call? :)

I would call the Butterball hotline if I had questions about a turkey. I could call my MIL about anything else or my new SIL that is a Cordon Blue trained Chef who up until a few weeks ago was the personal chef for the neighbors of George and Barbara Bush--she can cook up a storm!!!

Butterball Hotline. I'm relatively certain they have information on more than just the turkeys. Plus, knowing in advance that I'd have no go-to source, I would either have planned ahead and gotten the information before I started cooking.

Well, C.Ann since you answered my question yesterday I'll answer yours today!! LOL
I could call my Mom or my DMIL, but Mom works crazy hours and DMIL might not know the answer to my pumpkin pie question.......so.......I asked you guys!! :worship:
Thanks again. :thumbsup2

On Memory. I have a photograph memory and use watch my aunt cook. Or cookbook.

If not Butterball hotline, then I'd call on of my many clients who can cook very well! Those women always gives me the best tips around!

Not to hijack. They were talking about funny calls to the hotline on GMA. Said that one woman called to try and find out how to get her cat out of the middle of her turkey:lmao::lmao:

Thankfully I have a rather large collection of cookbooks and I love to cook. So pretty much everyone I know would be calling me.

I would call either my mom or stepmom. Neither one ever cooked by recipe but by taste and would be able to help me fix whatever screw up I made. :lmao:

I'd call my mom or one of my 4 sisters. I also rely heavily on my old Betty Crocker cookbook! I call my mom with a cooking question 4-5 times a year. My mom is an excellent cook. She's also the only person for whom my husband will eat vegetables. Never underestimate the power of Mom!

If I did not have my parents to call I would go to the library ahead of time and look up the answer in cookbooks and possibly ask the librarian if I did not get an answer I needed. If she did not know the answer I would ask others in the library if they knew.

I'd call my mother!

my dad passed away several years ago but I always had to call him to remember how long to boil an egg for a hard boiled egg.. still think of him every time I go to boil an egg!!
