Fun place for kids to eat

I'd like to take my boys (8 and 5) to one of the WDW restaurants our first night there. I'd like to do something fun, but not a character dining experience or a show. I'm looking for something at a resort or DTD. I've read that O'hana is a lot of fun for kids. What are your suggestions? Thanks!!

Some thoughts that came to my mind are Whispering Canyon in the Wilderness Lodge where they do napkin twirling and hobby horse races

We really enjoyed the buffet at Trail's End last summer. There is no entertainment at the restaurant, but we walked over to the campfire/singalong after dinner. It was a LOT of fun and FREE!

Ohana is fun, and my son loved looking around the Poly resort

T-Rex is also fun...that is where we went out first night on our last trip..and exploring DTD is fun

I've heard that T-Rex is a lot of fun. We have tried Rain Forest Cafe, it's fun also.

We usually start our trip with just swimming and DTD. T-Rex has been our usual first meal the past few trips, except last year. We didn't arrive until 10pm so we got a large pizza and ate by the pool. My kids thought that was the most fun meal.

Both our kids (at age 5 and 8) LOVED both of these places!!! WCC was probably their favorite of the whole trip!

Whispering Canyon Cafe is really fun!

I would also like to suggest the ESPN at Boardwalk. It is always our first day place to eat. No reservations needed and my son has always really enjoyed it!

My kids love T-Rex as well! Make sure you get the light up cups and chocolate extinction for dessert!

Is it hard to get in to WCC? Im looking at a rez for Sunday and no dinner available. I have Boma booked, but Im just not sure about it for my kids (11,7 &1). My daughter loves BBQ.

Another vote for Whispering Canyon! We go to 'Ohana every trip and love it but my kids wouldn't describe it as fun.
