Fun ideas to reveal SURPRISE trip? (Search function is down)

Any fun ideas on how to tell DS9, DS7, and DS3 we are going to Disneyland? We are leaving at 5:00am this Friday (driving from the Bay Area) so we are thinking we will tell them Thursday night before we go to bed. This is not our first trip to DLR but it is the first time we've ever surprised them

One of my favorite parts of planning a trip to disneyland is figuring out how to surprise my two boys. I would say my most creative way was when I made homemade fortune cookies.
DS5 opened his first and it read, "today your parents will surprise you....."
DS10 then opened his wich read, "with a vacation to disneyland."

I don't know how your kids are, but if I tell my boys in advance, they won't sleep! LOL. So we usually don't tell them until the day of. A couple of trips we fooled them into thinking we were going to Tahoe. LOL. One trip they figured it out when the monorail went by. The other trip they were so sleepy they didn't notice where we were. We were able to check into the hotel and they still thought we were in Tahoe. So we filmed them the next morning when we told them we were going to Cars Land for the first time. They were beyond thrilled!

Maybe you could do some sort of eye spy game in the car that leads into they're going to DL? Or a map with DL circled? Hmmm....so fun! Clues in the car? Clues at a rest stop....or they're given a new clue at every stop to try to figure out your destination?

Last year, we went shortly after Easter so did an egg hunt. Each plastic egg had a clue in it leading the kids to the next egg. The final one was in my older son's closet, tied to a big Mickey balloon. Inside the egg was a message inviting them to the Magic Kingdom. You could do a something similar without Easter eggs.

We just surprised our kids at the weekend (ages 6 and 8) by giving them a Mad Lib I'd made. They're really into Mad Libs at the moment so they loved it. I have to confess I saw the idea on Pinterest first, it's not my clever idea!

We have surprised our DS8 and DS5 many times. We usually drive from the Seattle area. Last year we told them we were going to Legoland. All the way down we talked about mommy really wanting to get their first reaction to seeing Legoland on tape, so we would blindfold them when we were about 15 minutes away. They agreed! They remained blindfolded as we got our room keys and then walked them to the crosswalk. We counted down and told them to take off their blindfolds. When asked where they were, they yelled "Legoland" 3 times before they realized they were at DL!

Another time we did a scavenger hunt with clues all over the house. The end prize was a cut up paper puzzle they had to put together for the message they were going to disneyland.

Once we burst into their room at 4am with their clothes in hand, turned on the light, and frantically said, "get out of bed, we have to go to Disneyland RIGHT NOW!!" Took my oldest a few minutes to believe us, my youngest was like alright let's go!

Any way you do it, it will be memorable. Even if you get the classic, "do we have to?" Response lol

we are going on the 24th. We are telling them at their birthday party on the 23rd. The know we are going on vacation, but they think we are going to the mountains to play in the snow for a few days. I'm going to have it put on the cake "Surprise! We are going to Disneyland!"

We are going in a couple of months and we are surprising DD9. We need to leave super early for the airport so I'm going to wake her by saying " Time to get up to go to Disneyland..." instead of time to get up for school.

Hopefully at 4:00 am she can grasp the implications.

Our situation is a little different. We will be giving the trip as a present for Christmas, but actually going in February. My current thought is giving a couple present that hint at it, but aren't too obvious. And then the last present will be a giant box of Mickey/Disney balloons. I'm thinking I might tie a paper to each string and have it spell out a sentence and have them put the words in order to understand the message.

I am new to the site, but I saw that you are planning to go in July. We are as well. I have two boys 7, and 2. We were trying to find some families to meet up with for the boys to have some other kids to play and ride rides with kind of thing. When are you going? And how old are your kids?

We have an upcoming trip that was given last Christmas to our kids. We did something simple. I put 2 gift cards in a Disney calendar and wrapped it. I made a countdown on the calendar and my older son has just been crossing the numbers off. We are down to day 25, I think

The first year we surprised them by just driving there. lol I packed their bags and we loaded the van after they went to bed, we got up the next morning and headed towards the sitters but we passed that by and got on the road to DL. They didn't figure it out until they could see DL from our hotel room. lol
The next year I did a scavenger hunt and they found the travel pack as the treasure.
