How long have you owned your points?
Do you feel like you have gotten your moneys' worth out of it?
What is the biggest point splurge you have exercised on a trip?
Is there a point you expect to sell all or some of your points?
Have you ever rented your points?

We currently have over 500 and are about to add some more but I haven't really ever considered an exit strategy or renting them because we go so often. I know things change but after going to Disney for the last 10 years on average 6-10 times a year I am comfortable believing more points isn't a bad thing in my case but the next move up will put my MF's in the range of major expense for me.

I got over 500 about two years ago. I absolutely love the freedom those points give me to book whatever I want whenever I want without thinking too much about how many points I have left. I do t track value, but for the enjoyment I get from those points it’s absolutely worth it.

Biggest point splurge was taking our close family circle for a full week at a grand villa.

Right now I’m switching one contract (selling SSR and buying CCV resale), but no expectation to sell in the near term. I’m planning on adding LSL. As of now that’s the last addition I’m expecting, mostly because I don’t want to increase my annual dues too much and for our travel patterns, we can stay the nights we want at 1BRs.

I rented once due to getting a contract with banked points I wasn’t going to be able to use. I find renting annoying and would prefer to get an AP with them. But if I have to I’ll do it.

I love splurging on a grand villa sometimes. It’s just so boojie and if you’re going to do it, I like three night stays or more so… points. We did 5 nights at Aulani in the GV with my parents and sibling - their first time experiencing DVC after me yapping about it for years (we joined in 2020 with 400 points and now are at 1,250 and have yet to rent points though we did use them once for a Japan Disney trip and yes I know it’s not a good use of points). They think that’s the kind of room/view we always have now. Ha Ha. No plans to sell but that’s (currently) the beauty of DVC - can rent if you have years you want to do other things or “life” happens and can also get a huge chunk of your investment back if you want to sell at some point.

We bought our first contract in 2007 and we went over 500 with our VGF1 purchase in 2013. We now have 700 points.

Do you feel like you have gotten your moneys' worth out of it?

Yes, definitely, though our pattern of stays have changed a bunch over the years! We don't go as often as we used to.

What is the biggest point splurge you have exercised on a trip?

Either the Aulani 2 Bedrooms or the 6 nights in an SSR Grand Villa for DD's 21st Birthday.

Is there a point you expect to sell all or some of your points?

Yes, in fact, our VGF1 points will probably go first since it has gotten so much harder to get Deluxe Studios. 700 points is a lot. In fact, every year except 1 that we have owned since 2007, we have banked points into the following use year.

Have you ever rented your points?

Just once, and that was awhile ago. No plans to do it again.

1. Only owned for 3 years now
2. I feel like we are, sometimes I do question if I put too much money into it to be honest and that's why with this last purchase, I feel like this is it for a good while. I guess it's a good thing my mind is still thinking of opportunity cost and being financially responsible and etc. We're also almost at the point where if I get more, I'm not sure if I'll have the time off to go more or if we even want to go more so I'm very content with what I have now and I do feel like we are getting our money's worth out of it. My spreadsheet would agree that we are getting use out of it.
3. Biggest point splurge is definitely the wedding, spent a little over 900 points in the span of 5 days. In that time had a 1BR booked for 5 nights at RIV, a 2BR booked for 5 nights at RIV. Another 2BR booked for 2 nights at RIV. A Grand Villa booked for 3 nights following the 2 nights in the 2BR at RIV and then a night in a Bungalow in the middle of it.
4. I may sell off Animal Kingdom at some point, maybe to switch to a more economic resort like Bay Lake Tower but between the 500 dollar fee and commission costs I'm not sure if I need to. Also I'm planning to use those points to book nights during the summer when availability is easy so I don't know if it matters. No plans in the immediate future.
5. Yes, but only to friends. I'm a point hoarder, I don't really want to rent them if I don't need to.

Yes, my wife love the boojie things in life.

Its the one reason I don't think we will ever rent out points.

Echoes my thoughts pretty closely. We have only owned for 2 years but I knew we would get "our moneys worth" as much as one can because of all the years we came here 6-9 times a year. I always thought we would be a member of 1000 point club but now I feel like this upcoming contract is going to be my last so really debating it for the first time.

We have owned for 17 years! And have gotten more than our share of value out of owning!

We are up to 900!

I have splurged on GVs a few time for just one night and you might consider my using points for a 1 bedroom when it’s just me a splurge!

I don’t intend to sell because my adult children and their families will use them…and if not, I have plenty of family and friends.

But, with MMB, I can use them for APs, and if I really had extra, can always do a cruise.

I have rented to strangers twice…and don’t see myself doing it again. Too many other options!

Just the way it worked out. 505. All started end of 2020. Will not be selling. It’s in my financing sweet spot currently with dues. Probably haven’t reached moneys’ worth “yet”, but in my mind I have! NOT a renter, won’t be. just a nice guy that has donated points for other’s fun.

The splurging is two of us in a one bedroom, having family trips now in a two bedroom, and booking higher point categories like a Savanah. Because I now can!

How long have you owned your points?
We started in 2009 with 100 points, added on 460 additional points over three purchases just in the last 5 years to a total of 560. My heart says add more, my head says I have enough.
Do you feel like you have gotten your moneys' worth out of it?
Yes, we enjoy our vacations there, we like having villas with all the amenities.
What is the biggest point splurge you have exercised on a trip?
Nothing too big yet, two weeks in a treehouse in 2026 was the biggest I believe, close to 550. We are thinking about a bigger trip to Aulani in 2027 so that will probably be a big point splurge.
Is there a point you expect to sell all or some of your points?
Not sure. If we get too old for travel before they expire maybe we'll sell. We have adult kids, it's possible they might take BLT and VGF over if we make it to our 90's. We think we may outlast BRV and SSR...anything could happen.
Have you ever rented your points?
No, never. Don't see us doing that, we always figure out a time to use the points.

How long have you owned your points?
Bought my first contract (resale) in 2022.
Add-on-itis got me in 2023. Added another resale contract.
Then bought direct.
Stayed once at AKV and my son fell in love with it. (I did, too)
Sold two resale contracts and bought AKV.
Late last year I added a small BWV contract that I could not pass up, lol.
Now at a bit over 500 points.

Do you feel like you have gotten your moneys' worth out of it?
Absolutely.
I am always looking forward to our next trip.
I joke that it's cheaper and more enjoyable than therapy. :earsboy:

What is the biggest point splurge you have exercised on a trip?
We normally do Deluxe Studios, but we went to Aulani last year and upgraded to an Ocean View 1-Bedroom Villa.
So worth it!

Is there a point you expect to sell all or some of your points?
No, not really.
But I may give my AKV contracts to my son in the future. (But do not tell him that, lol)

Have you ever rented your points?
Yes, twice.
I do not have any plans on doing that again.
But I did use some of my AKV points for a friend who was taking his family to WDW for the first time.
I only charged him the cost of the annual dues plus a little bit.
It allowed them to stay in a 1-br savanna view... Priceless first WDW trip!
