I'm helping a friend plan a trip..three girls, the 5 and 6 year old will be immersed in the magic. They'll have an autograph book too... But what's fun for the 16 year old? I though maybe pin trading..
Any of you moms with older daughters got any suggestions?
I'm hoping to help make this a very magical trip for the whole family!
Thanks

It's tough to know what a 16 year-old will be into. My daughter is 14 and is mot even a little bit interested in pin trading anymore, but I'm sure that many teenagers love it.

My suggestion is to get her a guidebook and let her pick something.

Maybe she would like a behind the sceens tours. Or have her help plan the meal choices, get her involded in the process. Maybe take just her out for EMH with one parent. I loved doing that with my mom late at night riding the coasters!

I am a mom of a 16yr old daughter and she has been going to WDW since she was 18 months old. We just were there over the holidays.

She out grew the autographs, the Epcot masks and passports and trading pins by age 14. She loves helping plan where we are going to eat, suggestions for touring and even taking pictures with her select favorite characters. She always has a "date" with her dad and then with me...can be as something as simple as sharing a mickey bar or a ride together. We also love keeping a mental tally of hidden mickeys we find....trying to outdo one another.

Basically, making a little time for what they want rather than what you plan will probably do the trick! To this day it is her favorite place in the world to go...she loves it more than Paris, London and the Bahamas..lol

I always make sure my 18 year old has at least one meal that she has picked. Also, she has an appt at Pirates League that she is looking forward to.
You could also check in to horse back riding or other tours she may like.

My 15 yo suggests Sorcerer of Magic Kingdom card game! Check out the Disney YES individual program!

I also have one older DD (now 16) and two younger children.

She actually still loves doing the rides and has always appreciated having the younger ones along as an "excuse" to enjoy all the "little kid" things that she would want to do anyway.

Because the younger two were toddlers on our first trip, we planned an evening where older DD and I went to pm EMH at MK while DH stayed back at the resort and got to bed early. It was really wonderful just spending some quality time alone together and letting her decide everything to do spontaneously. It's a nice break from the planning and compromise of making sure everyone in the group is happy. This evening out has become a tradition.

It's surprising, but she actually enjoys more things as she has gotten older rather than less. The kids were never really big on meeting characters, but last trip DD had to meet Merida. She picked out a special outfit and was the first in line. I have never seen her light up like that. She will also wear some of the fancy ears and even bought matching Star Wars shirts to wear with her little brother.

Not sure if this teen is already a Disney fan, but maybe check out "Disneybounding". My kids are already thinking about outfits to wear for our June trip.

I was going to suggest this as well.

Not sure if tickets have already been purchased, but it may be worth looking into if they haven't yet. (YES tickets include a 3 hour class plus tickets for however many days you will be in the parks at a discounted rate). You may also be able to find a class offered at the same time for the younger two.

My kids all did classes a few years ago and we have classes booked for our trip this summer. They are all taking Animation History at HS this time (separate sessions for teens and younger kids, but offered at the same time). It's really a great experience.

Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness? Renting one of the sea racers on Bay Lake is fun too!
