My daughter wants to eat on the "big boat" - We are from Louisiana and are spoiled to great seafood. How does it compare?

Hi fellow Louisiana resident,

While I have never eaten at Fultons, I can say that I have found that the seafood in Florida just isn't the same kind of seafood we have at home. That's not saying it's bad. It just isn't prepared the same. I also found that to be true of the fried catfish.

Hope someone from Louisiana has eaten at Fulton's and can tell you how it measures up.

Lisa

A little bit of Disney history --
March 10, 1996 Fulton's Crab House opened in DTD Marketplace.

Fulton's is good. But I would think the seafood where you are from is just as good, if not better. However, it is always good to try a new place. I think you will enjoy your meal. :)

The last couple times we've eaten at Fulton's, the food has been only average. My DD and I ate there on my birthday last year, and paid over $100 for lunch, came away wishing we'd eaten somewhere else!

It's good but not great. It's waaaay expensive and not kid-friendly IMO.

One of our best meals last year. We just happened by there at dinner time last year and decided to give it a try. It was very $$$$$$$ (about $200 for 2 adults and DD7). DH and I both had whatever the daily specials were, which is always $$$. DD had popcorn shrimp. We also had wine and desserts, maybe even appetizers. We all loved our meals. Of course, we don't have great seafood in Texas like you do, so maybe our standards are lower - LOL.

Anyway, we are going back again next trip.

We found it to be excellent, (but of course pricey) and we're from NE so we are used to very good seafood too. :goodvibes As far as the atmosphere on the boat-not as exciting as it was when it was the Empress Lily but it's still kind of cool to know you're eating on a boat. (FYI, Fulton's and Portobello are owned by the same co. and both have very good food.)

I am a fellow Louisianian and I agree we have great seafood in this state. I have eaten at both Portobella Yacht Club and Fultons in the past. I enjoyed both meals and both restaurants. With specific regard to Fultons, I found the CM's to be very polite and found our service was wonderful. We had a great waiter who talked to our girls and joked with us. Our dd's were ages 4yrs and 1yr during our trip that year. I can't remember what all I ordered but I know I had seafood as did my dh and we both enjoyed it. Now don't go expecting to find a great LA seafood gumbo or a Jambalaya to compare to home because that is just not possible. I don't remember thinking they were not child friendly at all. We were quickly given a highchair for our youngest and there was a childrens menu to pick from. No one made us feel out of place with children at either of these restaurants after all this is Disney and I think the only place I could feel out of place with small children would be at Victoria and Alberts and I can't wait until they are old enough that I can dine there again.

Well I don't live in da big easy but my bro does so I've had many an outstanding meal there.

We really enjoy Fultons-they Alaskian King Crab claws are to die for! And lobster bisque, chocolate cream brulee.......

I'd say go for it! But it's not in any was Cajun food

i have eaten there several times and i am from the northeast where we are spolied by good and fresh seafood. we didn't love the food there. the crab cakes are loaded with filler and taste like a freezer. just my opinion.

We've had wonderful & terrible meals at Fultons so I truly believe it's the luck of the draw. I would not recommend lunch there as the portions are very small and the prices very large. (and I am not shy about spending copious amounts of money on excellent food). On one of our trips a gentleman seated next to use found a melted piece of plastic in his mashed potatoes. We overheard the manager apologize to him, but never offered him any monetary compensation, which, as a former restaurant owner, I would have...a least to comp his meal. And we've also taken family and friends there and all of us have had wonderful meals...halibut to die for, Australian lobster tails that melted in your mouth and unbelievably fresh snow crab and crab claws. Give it a try. At least your daughter will have eaten on the boat. (any one else remember the Empress Lilly?)
