So, I finished, got my medal and food and went to the runners area to eat and rest up before going out to the car. As I'm sitting there stretching and eating, I see black clouds gathering in the sky. Then a steak of lightening. I decide to get up and move my butt to the car, but I knew there were still people out on the course. Does anyone know if everybody got finished before the bottom dropped out -- it poured on me just as I got back to the hotel -- or were there still people out there? Did they pull people off the course b/c of lightening? I hope not, b/c I know by that point most people should have been safe from the sweepers. I'm just wondering if anyone saw how it ended with the storm coming. If you were still out there when the bottom fell out, I'm soooo sorry.

I stayed at the BWV and I do not think I heard the rain until around 1:20, more than enough time for all to be safe. I could be wrong on the time as I was in the middle of a long and powerful nap.

I think they may have been ok. I hobbled back from the finish to the Swan. I saw two people walking with about 7-10 bikes behind them at the Boardwalk. I assumed they were the last finishers since the bikes were there.

I lost all track of time, but I know it took forever to get into the hotel, clean up, show off medals, etc. I bet it was an hour before we went back out- the rain started after we left the hotel to head towards Epcot. The walkers I saw had looked strong and determined- I bet they made it!

My BF and I watched and cheered runners in Epcot, first from by the big fountain, then we went to Mexico for margaritas. We cheered until the final runner (walker, but you know what I mean), and the rain had not started. I doubt the last few people got any rain, but they were far enough along they wouldn't have pulled them for that.

Thanks for your concern.....I crossed the finish line in the last 15 minutes or so and can tell you that everyone who crossed was safe from rain at least through the finish. When we went to get our photo taken, the photographers were rushing people through as quickly as possible because you just knew it was going to pour any minute....and it did. The race people let us take shelter in one of the tents during the first downpour. Then as we were making our way back to the monorail, it came down again. My feet were so sore I could only take baby steps and the mylar blanket was my only protection. My husband was an angel......I told him to run ahead, but he wouldn't leave my side and got soaked.

That was our fear!! TXBelle/Heather and I were stuck on the monorail trying to get to EPCOT, when we heard the thunder. We were so concerned because of that darn lightning policy!! But I can confirm that no one was pulled. We waited until the very last person crossed. Thndermatt, mrstropicana and I were some of the very last people to leave the family reunion area. Just as I got outside of the reunion area, the skies opened up!! As jeanneg said..I was soaked by the time I got to the monorail. It looked like I had jumped into a pool! So I went the extra 1/10 mile to the taxi stand. I was afraid no one would let me ride, but someone took pity on me!! It was worth the $10 to Poly not to have to climb up Epcot's monorail ramp, down Ticket and Transportation's ramp and up the resort ramp!! :goodvibes Anne

I'm pretty sure everyone made it through. One of my teammates finished around 7:10 clock time (6:57 chip time) and it wasn't raining yet when I met up with her outside the baggage pick-up. We did however get dumped on while standing in the middle of the parking lot waiting for her sister to go find her rental car and come pick us up. She thought she was parked right outside the family reunion area but turns out she was actually all the way over by the monorail station

Linda and I saw the last 2 people finish as walking back to EPCOT. It was great to see them finish. We caught caught in the rain at the Cool Station in EPCOT. Stuck hiding for 20 minutes. I was getting Hypothermic as had 3 ice packs on:eek: . Finally could leave but when got to the Boardwalk it opened up again and we got drenched. Made it to the room and cranked up the heat.

Congrats to all!
