we are at blt, on day 8 of 12. i thought on day 8 they did a full cleaning, trash, towels, change all bed linens, etc. It seems that so far, they have only done trash and towel service like they did on day 4. Is that all they do, or should we be calling and asking someone about it?

You should have gotten a full cleaning on day 4 and trash & towel service on day 8. From DVCMember.com:
For stays of 8 or more nights, Full-Cleaning Service is provided on day 4 and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day 8, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, vacation points or a combination of both. This process repeats for stays longer than 8 days.

With Full-Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus:
  • Change the bed linens.
  • Vacuum and dust the vacation villa.
  • Clean the bathroom(s).
  • Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.

Welcome to the world of Disney doesn't care.

98% of the time we never get our room cleaned on the correct schedule. I say that they don't care because every time they mess up I report it to Mousekeeping, the resort manager, and DVC Member Satisfaction.

When they do T&T they never change out our towels, they just leave us fresh ones.

With the millions of dollars that owners spend on housekeeping each year, you would think that Disney could do a better job. I guess they don't feel like they have to, it's not like we can put them on warnings and fire them if they don't improve. :sad2:

Our stay at BLT was really messed up, too. We got trash and towel on day four, then they wanted to do full cleaning on day 5.

If you had linked reservations, that could be part of the problem.

no linked reservations, just one long one for 11 nights

Yes as mentioned, day 4 should've been your full cleaning. After 4 visits to BLT, housekeeping has always been an issue. Upon talking to MS after a visit or two, the cast member I've talked to has said that housekeeping at BLT is probably one of the most reported issue. You would think they could get it together. Even our last visit there this past May, my husband chased down a housekeeper to get trashbags on several different days. Yep, we were skipped on our designated day, yet again.

To be honest, my family sees that as a plus. If we want/need extra towels then we can just toss the dirty ones in the laundry and then we have 2 sets.

But in general I do agree it is frequently hit or miss, and therefore frustrating, what schedule they may or may not keep.

Seems all hotels are getting worse at this lately- over the summer my family took a vacation around the southwest. I think literally half the time there was no housekeeping service. And we were staying at brand name, non-budget motels. (family of 5 so we need to get a suite...) You would hope that Diseny would try to be better than the average but i suppose not....

Personally i have never had a problem from Mousekeeping and they stick to the schedule outlined on my reservation I receive. If one of these services are missed or not up to your standards, I definitely would make the resort manager know.

Housekeeping Information for Disney Vacation Club Resort Reservations:
For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four. For stays of eight or more nights, Full Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight (after that the cycle begins again on day 12). This service schedule applies regardless of whether you are using a Memberdiscounted cash reservation, Vacation Points, or a combination of both.

what gets me is when they come in and do a complete cleanup....the day before you check out. Never could figure that one out. they have to come back and clean it the next day.

It would be more difficult to manage if they had a different schedule based on the exact number of days you were staying. It's hard keep it straight now.

I personally can't remember ever having a housekeeping error on dates. I've never had them leave the old the old towels except when I was in a 1 bedroom and didn't want them to take them, I left them in the dryer.

you can call housekeeping and trade your cleaning days for a better day for you. (or at least you used to be able too...)

We have yet to experience a housekeeping challenge at any DVC resort. Most recently we were at Aulani for six nights in September. On Day 4 they provided all new towels and toiletries and dumped the trash. (Sometimes I will take the trash to the trash room myself rather than wait.) Everything was handled efficiently. I guess we have been very fortunate.

That's not how the schedule works though. It's day four for full cleaning , day eight for trash and towels. So you are supposed to get it in the middle of your stay. Unless you are staying 12 nights. Then you'll get a second full cleaning on day 12.
