We are booked in at the VGC (first time since our purchase in Feb) and want to have the room cleaned more than just a "trash & tidy" on day 4. Does anyone know how much this will cost, and how one goes about arranging this?
Also, we LOVE the toiletries at the Grand Californian Hotel.....are they the same for DVC?

Per the MS website:

Pay As You Play
With Pay As You Play service

Additional Full Cleaning Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $30.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $45.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $60.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $75.00 per day requested

Additional Trash & Towel Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $15.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $20.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $25.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $35.00 per day requested

Note: Rates are subject to change

I don't recall if anyone used this service daily, but have read you need to call mousekeeping and request the service 24 hours in advance. If you want the service on a daily basis, I would ask at check in if could be arranged to start the next day and continuing and have the charges placed on your account.

Thanks - I am still figuring out the MS site - this is our first timeshare experience, so please excuse any other dumb questions I may have.

There are no dumb questions if you don't know the answer. FYI, I do NOT think full cleaning is a necessary expense. We have paid for an extra full cleaning only once in 13 years of membership, and I found it to be totally lacking and overpriced for what they did. I have no problem making my own bed in the morning, and the full cleaning I paid for was so poorly done, I had to make them come back and do it over. That was at AKV, but I'll never do that again.

I'll concur with Diane. You have a vacuum cleaner in your villa, washer and dryer, dishwasher... What more do you need? Just make everyone make their beds each day (or at least close the door to the other room) and common areas need to be kept tidy.

It is just the fresh linens more than anything....other condos that we have rented have small washers/dryers, and I don't want to spend an entire day doing bedding if there is another option. There are nine of us including the baby and I will likely be the only one cleaning, and 4 days is as far as I am willing to push bedding without washing. Does anyone know if I can request extra linens? Other posts that I have read seem to indicate that there is not an option for a second set of linens.

No extra linens.

If you NEED fresh linens, then yes, you need to pay for a full cleaning to get that.

Most people only change their beds once a week, so that is the schedule DVC is on as well. If you stay 8 nights or more, you will get a full housekeeping with clean sheets etc on day 4. If you are only staying 7 nights or less, you will just get trash and towel on day 4.

There are washers and dryers in the units (OKW has full sized ones), and we find we use them for clothes and towels, but I don't need fresh linens every 4 days.

Seriously? How often do you change your bed sheets at home?

LOL - A couple of times a week, sometimes more often.....I have 4 boys(and the 5th overgrown one I am married to) and they are constantly sneaking snacks in bed....and they are morning shower guys, so the smell of teenage boy sweat at the end of the day is not something I can live with for long.
They play hockey, basketball, lacrosse, waterpolo(non-stinky sport that I love), football, and baseball, as well as whatever kind of pick-up game might emerge in the course of the day or evening. Even with the post-sport shower, they still manage to find some way to get dirty or sweaty most days, and since 2 of them are bringing friends on this trip, the level of competition will be higher than usual. (These kinds of trips usually start with some sort of "catch" game at the airport gate while we wait to board, and me giving the kids the "look" and being ignored)

If the washer/dryer are small, I will only be able to do one set of sheets at a time, and we will have 5 beds in use.

They are not small, but you will not be able to do 5 beds worth in one load.

It depends on if it's worth $60 to have them changed for you. If you do request the full cleaning, I would leave a note to be sure to change the sheets. Disney hotels typically do not change sheets during a stay so they may forget and just make the bed.

When I had the full cleaning scheduled, it was because we had some guests leaving and new ones coming. I wanted to make sure they had clean linens. I got a bit worried when they made the bed with the extra blanket on it that our departing guest had put on the bed. They also did not replace the sheets for the pull out (that's where the extra blanket came from), and we needed to have them back up so one of the guests could use the pull out and have bedding for it.

I would certainly make it clear that you wanted the full cleaning to have fresh linens.

Excellent point - I did not even think that they would not change linens during the full clean....I think that I will go ahead with the clean on day 4 rather than the trash & tidy ( I will use that on day 2 to get rid of all the grocery packaging etc. from our arrival. )

If I leave a note for housekeeping is that enough, or should I stay and let them know in person. Also, what is appropriate for a housekeeping tip for DVC?

Of course if you must have daily "mousekeeping," it is included with AKL conceirge

I have to agree with the others that feel it isn't worth the cost. Unless you REALLY need the bathrooms cleaned, they don't do anything that you couldn't do in just a few minutes.

To change the schedule or add a full housekeeping, you need to schedule it ahead. I'd do that when you check in and also call housekeeping the day of to remind them.
