Today was a fill in day for us. We planned a short visit to the Magic Kingdom to ride the raceway - something Brittany saw on the way out last time and asked to do. So into the park we go, searching for characters and heading to the raceway. We stopped in the Exposition Hall and got some pictures of Gepetto and Dopey. Dopey, in fun, borrowed Brittany's popcorn bucket and was pretending to eat out of it. Brittany was laughing along until he started to pretend to give it away to some other guests standing near us. Brittany saw this, looked up at me, and just started bawling.
Dopey noticed this and came back with the popcorn and spent the next couple minutes giving her big hugs and kisses to make up. She was smiling when we left so I think that Dopey is still on the 'in' list.
We made it back to the raceway and rode on that. It's the first time I've been on it, and it was ok. I spent the time just kinda puttering along, not steering. The car kept banging back and forth on it's rail which was funny but I stopped doing it cause I thought a CM might yell at me. Mom and Brittany were in the car behind us with Brittany steering. Sounds like she had a ball driving.
From there we begged Brittany to go on the Tommorrowland Transit Authority, something Brittany did NOT want to go on cause she thought it was dark. We told her that even though there were a couple short dark parts for the most part of the ride you were outside looking at people. I don't remember what deal we struck up but she went on it, and Mommy was happy as it's one of her favorite rides. I looked around Quick for Angie Allen, a CM who is on the DIS boards with no luck
After lunch in Adventureland at some fish and chips place, we walked back towards the front of the park with the intention of finding the character area by Splash Mountain. We didn't know exactly where it was and wanted to wander around. On the way over, people were lining up for the parades and we watched 2 marching bands march down the route. They were pretty good.
We found the character area and Brer Bear and Brer Fox were there. We go out pictures taken there and played on the little kids area underneath the train trestle while mommy went into the shops to look around. Of course, just as we finished up, the parade finished so we walked behind the parade down mainstreet. That was about the coolest thing, cause if you were in front, you could see all the characters on the back float, and watch them dance and stuff. I'll have to remember that for the next time. The last sight we saw was a street cleaner with one of those big street vacuums that look like lawn mowers. What was odd this time is the CM from the popcorn cart walked over with a big bin of unpopped and half popped kernels from his machine and dumped it on the ground. The CM ran the vacuum over the kernels and in a second they were gone. Hmmm interesting way of getting rid of the junk popcorn, but I woulda thought a trash can would have been a better idea. Oh well.
From the MK, we decided to head over to the Marketplace, the first time mommy had really been shopping all trip. I didn't want to bring Brittany into the stores, as that's always a fight with a toddler especially in the Disney Stores. So we headed over to the fountains to see if Brittany wanted to play in them. She said she did and has never expressed the interest to play by them before so we went over to one. Whereupon we got just our toes wet. She was just enthralled watching the other kids get soaked in the fountain. I assume next year it will be our turn as she didn't want to get too close. After that we wandered over to the sand play area next to the little train ride, and played there for quite a long time.
We had to go meet mommy so we got in the stroller and when I went to put her shoes on I noticed she had a broken blister on her small toe of her foot. She wouldn't let me touch it and complained it hurt only after I had pointed it out. We went and got a bunch of wet paper towels and I washed down her foot, and dribbles some water on it to help clean it. A nice CM that I traded pins with earlier waited over by us and talked with me and Brittany. Mommy came out and wasn't done she went back in while we played on the 'balls' that used to squirt water right by the World of Disney store. We did that for a while until I noticed my camera had a really bad smudge on the lens I couldn't clean. We went back to the nice CM to see if I could get a paper towel with some windex. While she searched for that, I looked at Brittany's toe and she must have hit it again cause it was bleeding more. We quick went into WOD and got another paper towel with water and I cleaned and dabbed and dribbled water to try to clean it up as much as possible. The CM came back and we cleaned the lens (she offered a bandaid but Brittany wanted nothing to do with that).
Mommy came back out and we wandered some of the other stores, We bought some Christmas stuff, and Brittany and I went by another fountain while mommy went in the readin anf writin store. Brittany was more adventurous and actually got close enough to get slightly damp. The positive thing was her foot was cleaned good. Gael came out of the readin and writin store upset they wouldn't give her the discount so we walked up to the WOD and bought the same stuff and got the discount. So frustrating.
On the way out, Brittany wanted to take some pictures with my camera, so let her - it's digital so not a waste of file. I kept most of the pictures for you to see here. Another good day and Gael got some shopping done.
