Today we started our day with a character breakfast at 1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridian. We weren't sure how Brittany was going to do, as Mary Poppins and Alice were supposed to be there and she's been freaking about the face characters. We had been telling her all along that if she didn't like Mary Poppins, she wouldn't come by her. Weirder still is Brittany was looking forwarding to meeting Alice in Wonderland, so we we're sure how it would go.
When we arrived in the lobby, we were confronted with our first character - Belle. She was in the foyer to the restaurant coloring with the kids. Brittany was scared to death to go near her, and we had to repeatedly tell her that Belle won't bother her if she doesn't bother Belle. The other challenge was provided because the characters had changed for the breakfast. Instead of Mary Poppins, the Mad Hatter was going to be there. Since she wouldn't go by him at the Magic Kingdom, we thought we were in for a screaming fit.
Low and behold just as we sat down, the Mad Hatter walked right up to us, and in his quick chattery voice started in on a conversation with Brittany and she was just enthralled. She sat right there, talking with him, looking at her pins, etc as if he were he best friend in the world. Go figure. Of course Alice stopped by, and she was perfectly fine for Alice too. Again - go figure. We thought maybe from now on we'd have her sit down for a meal with a character for the first time. We also saw Pinocchio and Geppetto. It was a pretty good breakfast. The had the normal buffet style stuff, and a couple other things to add that Grand Floridian flair.
We had decided to go back to MGM today after breakfast. Primarily because we missed some characters and shows, but also because I wanted to make the Tower of Terror DIS meet at 2:30. Our hunt for characters resumed the minute we walked in, with a sighting of Rafiki and Meeko just to the right of the entrance. For some reason Brittany was really scared of Meeko, but after meeting Rafiki and seeing Meeko just standing there (lonesome because Brittany wouldn't go see her...
she went up and horsed around with him for a bit, obviously over her fear. We stopped and watched the Green Army men for a while, but they left to go in shortly after we got there. After that we headed over to the Animation Studios and saw Artist Mickey. Right outside that, Brittany and I played an interesting game of hide and seek while mommy went to the ladies room.
We went back and watched the Hunchback show again, and played in the Honey I shrunk the Kids/Bugs Life playground. Mommy waited outside in the sun while Brittany and I went inside. She walked around rather listlessly inside there and I asked her if she didn't want to play there anymore. She told me she was sad she couldn't find the steps that made noise. Since I hadn't been in there before I didn't know they had such a thing. Low and behold right around the corner was the steps and we spent the next 20 mins running up and down those, totally ignoring all the rest of the area. She had a good time though.
Afterwards, we headed over to TOT for my meet and ran into a few DISers at the entrance- Claudia1, QuentinDisney, and TVT. We talked for a bit and all decided to head on the ride. Since Brittany had fallen asleep mommy took her for a stroll. When we walked up to the gate, we found a bunch of other DISers waiting there, among them Buggin, April76 and a few others. We again headed into the ride and had a great time. I think the award for the goofiest look goes to Quentin. I'll post the picture when I get it scanned at home. We split up after a group picture and I headed out to find my family. I found them greeting Hercules and Mulan down the street a bit. She wouldn't go near Mulan, but ran right to Hercules. (hhmmm.. Male face characters are OK?) Jessie was across the street also, but we missed her cause she went back in. Brittany told us that was OK cause she had seen her last time. Sometimes she says the funniest things.
After we realized this was the last day for the Main Street Electrical Parade(575,000 lights!), we headed back to our resort and took the launch to the Magic Kingdom to see the parade. I took some pics along the way, but once we got into the kingdom I did not take any pictures of the parade as I was video taping. If I can figure out my capture card, I'll post a copy of that here - the last MSEP ever. I still have to try to get the pin for that - one of the only pins I really 'want'. During the parade we sat next to a really nice mom and her daughter. I forget their names at this moment but I'll ask Gael and post them for sure. We exchanged Disney information, and I told her about my website and the DIS. Maybe she'll visit. It was nice meeting her anyway. After the parade we walked back to Toon Town Fair for the character greet there, trying to get a few last ones in. Much to our delight, the fireworks started going off and we got a great view of them walking to the back of the park. I'll have to remember to go to this area of the park for fireworks in the future. I got some great pictures of the fireworks with my camera which surprised me. We met the Hundred Acre wood crew and headed back to the resort afterwards, Brittany half asleep in her stroller.
