Hardly ever see people pay cash, mostly credit or debit cards. Pay at the pump.![]()
Or bring that Visa in and give it to the attendant, thus violating your cardholder agreement and leaving yourself wide open to skimming, a.k.a. identity theft.
What part of the cardholder agreement do you violate? You can't hand your card to a cashier??????? Never ever heard that one before.
However, I did go to a Red Lobster in Orlando once where the server brought me a hand held scanner so I could scan my credit card myself. First place I'd ever seen one like that.

I was thinking that too. There is nothing in my cardmember agreement that says that I personally have to scan the card. Sounds kinda fishy...![]()
I have never seen a credit card agreement that says "sure, you can give your card to a total stranger and let him hold on to it while you go out and pump your gas"...

Mile Oak, the publishers of ALONG I-75, have been lobbying to get this fixed for four years now, without success. If I'm getting gas on credit in Canada, I go in already knowing what's going to be charged, hand the card to the attendant, and let him swipe it--it's within my sight the whole time. In the States, because I have to prepay, the attendant is left holding my card as collateral. Or something. Or maybe he'll just charge $75 to it--over twice what my tank will take dead empty--and then refund me afterwards.
